Hey guys, got a quick question for you. Is the first gen Z1000 front seat the same as 03/04 zx6r? I am looking to do a tail swap again, and I am getting a good deal. But I am unsure of the seats. I know the tail fairing is the same. But the subframe is welded to the frame unlike the zx6r. That's okay because I am going to weld mounts to fit the zx6r. Really just need to know if the seats are the same or not. Looks like from analyzing pics that they do to me. Just unsure. Thanks for the help.

Look at a parts diagram to see if it's the same part #.

I know it's not the same part number. Even the 03 z1000 seat part number is different than the 04. I know sometimes part numbers can be different but the parts can be the same. The 03/04 zx6r tail is the same as the z1000. So I know the back part of the seat has to be the same. I am more wondering if it is the same in front, bc fitting around the tank

I am trying to work a zx6r seat onto my z750, the tabs don't match up at all and the front of the zx seat is made to fit around the tank but it doesn't match up at all.

I own both a 2003 636 and a 2005 z1000 (same as 03-06) and the seat is not the same from what i remember, i believe the rear tail cowl will bolt right us as well as the tail light but the under tail mud guard is different in the fact that the z1000 one needs the hole for the seat release key slot.

I bought a cheap zx seat off eBay awhile back, it can be made to fit but you've got to be creative with a dremal, and it still doesn't fit perfect but as soon as I figure out how to clamp it down ill be riding that seat.

Yeah what he said. It's the same size. You might also need a few M80's from your local fireworks store. Each one is 1/8 a stick of dynamite.
