Best Year Zx10????

I am looking for a good year ZX10. The 2010 nose does not look that great and wonder if the earlier ZX10s are a lot slower than the newer ones. I know you can tune etc and want to know if the 2006-2008 are really that much slower.

Seriously, what are you up to? You ask what the fastest year ZX12r is and now you're looking for the fastest year ZX10r? The '08+'s are the most powerful and with the weight saved over a ZX12r they're pretty similar in straight line performance. While the '08+ have a bit more power they're also about 15 lbs heavier.

Looking back pretty much all your posts it's apparent that you only want to go in a straight line as fast as possible. How about a ZX14r? It's a couch on wheels, but it has the fastest 0-60mph times, fastest 1/4 mile times, etc.

I am trying to decide between a zx10 or a zx12. I do like the zx14 but does not handle very well. Trying to pin down a good year to go with. I am sure the seat will be more comfy with an aftermarket one. ;0)

the 06-07 can be made just as bad as the gen 1's
i don't like the signals in the mirrors on the '08 up, or the nose

If you can handle the looks fo rthe front end the 08+ is the best option you have PERIOD!
I am a 1st gen 10R owner with loads of mods and go fast fast goodies and was highly impressed with the stock 3rd Gen 10r, and it will faster in a straightline than the bikes you mentioned above.

The '04/'05 were the best years as far as the balance between raw power and attractiveness goes. Of course the attractiveness is an opinion, but that model 10 was a monster. Made more power than the '06/'07, which a lot of people found to be pretty ugly (I personally like them, but again, it's an opinion). The '08 and up I'm not familiar with. They're not attractive to me, so I'm reluctant to follow them. From what I read, you're looking at a 10R or 12R but I'm getting the vibe that you know nothing whatsoever about them. Do you ride now? If so, then what? And what is the force driving you towards these specific bikes? I'm just curious as to where you are and where you're trying to go. You're looking at the bike from the inside (engine) out. Just seems odd to me.

I'd have to agree with LarryJ, it doesn't sound like you really know what you are getting into. I've got an 07 and while it might be down on power and up on weight the performance is negligible. The only way you will really notice a difference is on the track. These bikes will get you going felony speeds in first. What is a few pounds and a couple hp when your 0-60 is under 3 seconds for the porkyest of them.
