Default 06 ZX10r rear tire replacement

I recently realized that I need to replace my rear tire on my 06 zx10r. After looking around and finding out that it can cost me up to $300 for a nice 190/55-17 tire, I decided to get a Metzler 190/50-17. I haven't yet replaced the tire on my Bike wanted to know if anyone has done this on thier 06 zx10r and what kind of loss/gains they had?

yes, I swapped to the 190/55 after I had the same experience you are having now. The change is minimal. Don't take this the wrong way, but depending on how you ride and your experience, you most likely won't notice a difference. Of course that also depends on the tire that you put on the back as all 190/50 are not created equally.

Cool right on for the input. By the way I got a Metzler M1. Just wanted to try a Medium compound that'll last me longer since I ride mostly on the freeway commuteing to work. But for sure hit the twisties hard on the weekends.

I too had a difficult time finding tirs. I had 3 local dealers tell me that the bike was supposed to come with a 190/50-17 tire. I had one guy at Barney's in Brandon just tell me i was wrong and there was no bike made with a 190/55-17 tire, he claimed he was looking in the owner's manual. I told him to look at the 07 blue 10r on their showroom floor and tell me what tire it had, but he refused Anyways, i ended up going with the 190/55-17 ContiSport Attack tires from motoxoutlet.com. Only 129 shipped. Cant wait to try them out.

Well This pass weekend I had a friend of mine hook me up with his buddy who actually works for Dunlop at the AMA's, Who hooked me up with a setof some takeoff's from Nicky Haydens bike which only went around the track a couple times with plenty of Thread left on em. so currently I have 190/60-17's on there. I am taking advantage of every corner that I hit and lovin it.

Daz, you need to be aware that track tires are not good for the street! Especially if they really did come off of Nicky's bike.
You can NEVER get them hot enough for street use and are actually worse to ride in the twisties on your bike.
Make sure you get them EXTRA warm before you tilt.

FYI- I know it sucks to have to pay 300 to 400 for a good set of tires. But they are a lot cheaper than body work and hospital bills.

I run the Michelin Pilot Powers. I love them. I have been running them at the track in the advanced group and still have not used them to their limits. And they seem to wear really well.

running dunlop gp209 190/60/17 all year on my 06 zx10r and no probs great feedback in the corners coz of the profile
these are a road legal tyre and they are useing these in the BSB 600 supersport round yeh you lose a bit of straight line stability coz of the profile but once they are warm and this doesnt take long coz they are softer rubber but the art of useing race tyres is keeping them warm not getting them warm as everyone suggests
also make sure your rider sag is set right for you and you will notice a difference rear spring was set to soft for me 196lb (14st) fully kitted up

Yo Scoop Guess what? I decided to take my bike out one night recently for my last DUI class pretty cold night. When went to my class I warmed up my tires real well and was able to make it there in one piece, by the time I left at 10 at night the weather got really cold. all I remember is stoping at a red light and then waking up at Hospital. I ended up getting a Concussion. All this happened while turing on the bike in the Cold with those Tires and Hi-siding. I New of the reaction of the tires on the street but if i would have looked at your post maybe I would have thought twice!
