So, come tax time I'm going to upgrade to the ZX-14... that being said I'm starting my research early. From my understanding there isn't really a difference in the model years (other than color options) from 06-11. Obviously a complete redesign was done in 12, however, I'm not planning a new bike for money reasons.
Anyway, on most vehicles there are little quirks or bugs so I'm wondering if the same is true on the 14? Are there any model years to avoid? Is there anything in particular that is prone to have problems on these bikes that someone buying a used one should look out for?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated... thanks in advance for your assistance with my future purchase!!

They have shit resale value, but any year ZX14 won't disappoint.

08+ had a slightly tweeked motor. Moved around the cat. I'm not sure of the details but there's a start.

Thanks, I did find an article from motorcycle.com that also supported that.

Kinda what I was thinking... so at least slightly better to avoid 06-07, but other than that 08-11 nearly unchanged?

Meaning trying to sell it? Or that used ones can be picked up for much less? (Not sure those are actually different statements that I just came up with)

I've been riding my 250 for a little over 2 years and have about 12K miles under my belt. I've ridden every bike Kawi makes via 3 Demo Days and am quite certain that the 14 is the bike for me.
I do appreciate the concern... I know too many upgrade well before their time. I'm also 35 years old and a family guy... so I'm way past my doing stupid stuff young kid phase

Yeah... going from a 250R to a ZX14 is a VERY bad idea. The 14 is Wayyyy more bike than you need at this point.

Again, I appreciate the concern and or advice... but I'll be just fine. There are plenty of reasons behind my decision and if anyone really wants to hear them I'm game, however, this was not the point of this thread. I've already made my decision that this is the bike I plan to purchase... now I'm just trying to make an informed purchase so that I don't end up buying a model year that is prone to issues or that I would have been better off with a different year due to improvements.
To which, this thread (and the ones I posted on several other boards) has been very helpful. I did not know about the frame recall on the 06-07's and was not aware that several power improvements where done on the 08-11 models. That will definitely help me in my buying experience. If anyone has more helpful advice such as this I am greatly appreciative of such.
Sorry for the rant, I realize I'm not a very active member on this forum, however, that doesn't mean I'm a noob and only spent a couple months riding the smallest Kawi only to jump to the largest one. I'll jump off my soapbox now and hope for some more helpful advice.
Thanks again...
