burning exhaust valves?

can you burn up an exhaust valve if you are running an open pipe? (as in no muffler) someone said something about that today, i know you can run an open header on cars and not burn up your valves i just didnt know if it was different with a bike, if it matters i have a 2000 zx6-r.

You really shouldnt run without an exhaust system. The bike is designed to run with the back pressure the system provides.

i know you are supposed to get it tuned after you change the exhaust, but i am going to have a custom pipe made with fewer baffles in it. im still running the exhaust i just dont have the muffler on it. I am going to be taking it down to him so he can make his measurements, and it is kind of a far ride. i didnt think it would do anything to the valves.

Youd do more damage running without an air filter.

you can burn seats, but it takes a long time to do it. 10s of thousands of miles depending on the tune you have.
