I am getting to the point of buttoning up my 93 ZX7 and have completed a front and rear ZX10R suspension swap.

Rear was cake, just a couple spacers and drilling this and that. Bummed the ZX12R rear shock wouldn't work with the swingarm, but a ZX10 shock and a new brace to lift the battery box a smidge works ok.

The front was easy, I went the *******, easy way and swapped over the 7 bearings to the 10 stem, which cannot use the 7 bottom seal. I'll swap over to all 10R bearings/ races seals sometime soon.

However, a couple snags:

1) What have you guys done to mount the clutch reservoir? Not sure how to mount it short of drilling a hole on the top clamp and tapping a bolt for a bracket.

2) I am guessing this ins't a problem on the 96+ P models, but the upper triple contacts the fairing stay well before full lock on my 93. I might live with it for now until I figure out a way to fab a fairing stay off of the headlight bracket.

But was just curious if that is more of an 93-95 problem or do the other bikes encounter that as well?

I used the zx10R seal...it fits up inside and actually seals against the outer race.

1- I'm using a clutch master from a GSXR1000 - the reservoir is right on the master cylinder...small, simple, clean.

2- Didn't have that issue on the 96 as the mirror brace mounts much differently.

Just a thought...I copied this idea from somewhere, and used it when mounting fairing on bikes that didn't otherwise have them. You make a small plastic bushing to fit in the steering stem, then build a "Y" brake from there to the corners of the upper fairing. The "Y" was stationary when you turned...swivelign in the bushing. Having a good 1 1/2" of length in that steering stem bushing made it pretty rigid...but then I didn't have mirrors on those couple bikes either....

I made a bracket off the clutch master clipon bolt to mount my clutch reservoir to.

And the fairing stay is a pain in the butt as U-turns are completing out of the question, and plan your routes in parking lots etc etc. I am planning on making a new one so I can get full lock again I like Jbreit's idea.

I have a 92

Hmmm... I remember seeing a race fairing stay designed like that, a "Y" from the steering stem, which now I realize what I was looking at. At the time it didn't quite make sense.

I may go the headlight bracket route much like GenesisZX7R when mounting the Ducati fairings on his 7:

As for now, I will just button up what I have so far so I can enjoy some riding, especially with the time change coming up it's going to warm up QUICK!

That's a bummer about the 10R seal, I boogered it up pretty good getting the bottom bearing off.

I have some light work tomorrow so I will likely fab something up. The more I think about it, the more I don't want the upper triple hitting the fairing stay just trying to maneuver my bike around in the garage or a parking spot.

I have some light gauge tubing and will make some brackets that will bolt to the headlight mounts. If it holds I'll keep it, or snag an extra bracket off of eBay or something and make it permanent like GenesisZX7R.

I'm surprised the Graves unit has straight tubing going to the upper fairing mount, I was pondering making my supports with a slight bend to match the fairing contour.

Hi all

I´m about to swap my original ZX7-front to a ZX10-08, and from what i read here it should only be a swap of bearings.
For this "new" ZX10-front i bought new bearings and races (tapers instead of ball bearings), and when i put the triple axle into the frame, there is a space between the thread and the frame...preventing me from tightening the triple.

How can this be?
