ya. it should be fun. i'll have some money tied up in head and bottom end components.. it definitely won't be a free build. i was playing with turbo calcilator numbers, and theoretically, i can see 274Hp at 20 psi with 100% intercooler efficiency! lol
i'll be buying valves, rods and pistons right off the bat, let alone lines for coolant and oil, a restrictor (which i may just make myself), all the appropriate gauges (wideband O2, oil pressure, EGT, Fuel pressure,[if on carburators with rising-rate FPR] ect..), the EFI stuff (harness, pump, injectors, TB, switches and sensors ect) and piping, and whatever else. it'll probably be $1200-$2800, but i don't see any more than that, with EVERYTHING included
i'll use the 10-R pump when i get the injection and weld the gas tank to accept the pump flange. i've already welded a gas gauge flange to it from one of my 600's.. the tank metal is .030" and will hold..
if i run a power commander, i'll make my own map and dyno tune myself, as i should be buying a dyno in the near future for my shop. i'll probably get the PCIIIr since i can adjust ignition timing as well in that unit..
i will "hack" the ECU in the meantime and change parameters in the stock ECU. the 12-R guys do it alot, and the ecu run the same chip as the busa and a few cars, so it's vastly programmable. (as seen on http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spa...umID=99460&p=1 )
i'll keep in mind everything i've done to make my last race car build (a 91 MR-2 with a 3S-GTE swap) make 550HP. it's list was
stage 6 clutch (twin disc)
stage 6 axle cages
GReddy e-Manage
255lph walbro pump
SARD 660 injectors
Garrett T3/4 ( i ported and polished the compressor housing.. no A/R change)
Tial 38/40 wastegate
HKS SSQV B.O.V.
ported/polished (by me) modified stock exhaust manifold
32 way adjustable coilovers (handles like a go-kart)
AEM UEGO wideband
removed the speed limit defenser and other crap some hack had installed and chopped the harness for.
ths car is nasty. just did a 2JZ sawp in a 4th gen supra as well, so.. turbo stuff is no mystery!! lol
i just can't wait til i get my finances right. i did some calculations and research, and i think i'll either run a Ko3 or T3 40 trim now. i don't think the TDO4-L will work as well as i want it to. maybe on a literbike of if i do a zx14-powered drag bike.. should be very nice on that..

The limite of project is always the finance. Ok, your budget is more realistic. But, have you a cost price for rods, pistons and valves with your shop. Because, only the custom J.E. forged turbo pistons, rings and pins cost me $800+ tx. ???
Like you said 274hp at 20 psi, it's theorically. lol and 100% efficiency intercooler too lol. I imagine you calculated with very good efficiency motor and low intake temp and no intercooler drop pressure. lol You work with wich turbo calculator ?
I saw two ZX9 turbo with hi boost aplication : 25psi 280+whp and another one 300+whp at 27 psi with 1000cc kit.

ya. definitely theoretical. i try to use real-world numbers on my calculations. i think 250 for a one-time upll after tuning is possible. i saw a 9-R making mid 300 Hp one time. not 100% sure what all was done, but i've read the cases can withstand about 450hp before catastrophic failure.
the turbo calculator is on a buddy's computer, and i'm not sure what he's using..
i'm looking at probably $400 in valves and $600 in custom pistons, let alone any crank work and whatever else i'll sub out that i won't do. haven't priced rods yet, and might need to get a whole new crank, but i feel confident on the stock crank for a one-time pull.
as for the manifolds and intercooler, i'll build those myself. i can always get a I.C. core from a trucker buddy and find a Tig rig somewhere if i don't have one by then.
i may have to build a killer motor to handle 30+ psi to see 250hp, but thats my goal. no more than that. after that, the chances of ever cranking boost to that again to put that kind of number down are very little. i want to maintain streetability and use mild boost for no less than150hp and no more than 200 on the street.
i don't need any more than that, honestly. i just want to build to 250 for the vanity and the business it will hopefully drum up for me. i've ridden a good friends 241 hp (naturally aspirated) '05 busa, and ya.. theres NO need for that kind of power on the street.. very intimidating. he spends alot of money on tires.
either way, it'll be alot of fun i think, and the prelude to some really wicked future bikes on my list to build up.. i'm looking at a drag race bike rolling chassis. full tubular chassis.. straight drag bike.. plenty of room for a big-bore ZX14 motor on boost and an air-to-liquid intercooler.. maybe (if the wheelie bars are up to it..) spray on some mild jets (maybe no more than 50Hp..
good times..

I'll get some video when I take it to my shop to Dyno it. Unfortunatly our Data acquisition center has a blown power supply so I'm going to need to repair it. The Dyno is down untill then.
