the red thing? thats my oil filter, its a 45 micron washable screen, circle track stuff
thats a 14b off a mitsubishi eclipse
we'll see how bad this scares me, if i need more i will be building a new maniflod(not 100% happy with this one) and upgrading to a evo 3 16g with a goal of 300whp, people have pulled big numbers on the 14b but i don't really want to push the psi too high, i figure lag will be about the same with the 16g because its the same turbine, so if i can make the same power at lower boost its all the better
I get to go take it apart tomorrow, i just pieced everything together tonight, now i have to put the crush gaskets on the manifold aqnd bolt that back together
still figuring how i want to do the return, i think it might be better to build a small tank under the turbo for the scavenge pump to draw from instead of hooking the pump directly to the outlet
i'm not looking forward to cutting holes in my fairing for air filter and exhaust either
i never knew how much work this would be, it drives me insane. the day is coming though when i fire this thing up and feel what it can do

Good works, nice pics. The postion of the turbo is on right side on the motor. I'm asked if you will build straight exhaust or full pipe ? Because if you build a full pipe, have you the space for the exhauts stay in the fairing ? Have you a restrictor on the turbo oil line ? Thanks for sharing the pics.

no restrictor, figured i dont need one as the car the turbo came from doesnt have one.turbo is too far over for an exhaust like yours, it would be kinked up pretty bad, the wastegate actuator is right up against the inside of the bellypan on the left side thats why its positioned over that far, i planed on running a straight pipe

That ok for staight pipe exhaust. For the restrictor on the turbo oil line, most turbo run with 30-40 psi max. and the motor of bike run around 80-100psi. Try your set up without restrictor, but if your bike smoke you will need restrictor on the feed oil line turbo. It's not the only one reason when a turbo set up smoke, but in your set up, it's will be the first reason. The most popular restrictor size on turbo setup is (.060 to .065 th).
Before the first start up, prime oil in the turbo, because the turbo unit are very easy to burn when the turbos are dry.

thanks, yeah i was reading, i guess the stock banjo bolt on mitsubishi restricts the turbo so i will probably end up making one, people were suggesting using jb weld in a fitting and drilling but i'm not sure, i wonder if i can find a 1/8 npt male to 1/8npt female made out of steel that i can weld and drill
sombody else said drop the neck part of a pop rivet in the line as a restictor, i haave access to a machine shop so i'm sure i can just make one
i cant remember your exact setup but are you running a scavenge pump or gravity drain

Yes, i run with scavenge oil pump. Because on ZX9, the radiator is too tall and the position of the turbo is in the oil level.
If you want, you can buy a restrictor in turbo shop. This years, i changed my oil feed line set up. I put a restrictor on my oil line. I put a .060 th. I ran 3 years with a regulator oil pressure on the turbo oil line and i adjusted my oil pressure to 30-35 psi. I have a gauge pressure on my turbo oil line and another one gauge on motor oil pressure. Yes i know, i have a lot gauges . But, the gauges give me a lot information for tune proprely all my turbo set up. With the new restrictor, i will chech if my oil pressure stay in the same range pressure and if the pressure is too low, i will drill the restrictor to .065 th.

can you give me some more details of you scavenge setup? i'd like to hook my pump direct to the drain because it would be easy, but i was thinking i should make a a reservoir under the turbo so the turbo can gravityt drain and i can pump from there back to my crankcase

My scavenge oil pump is a MrTubo. MrTurbo have 2 or 3 scavenges oil pump, i don't remember exactely, but it's the cheapest pump of both. I saw Cycle logic system have the same pump on ZX14 turbo kit. I run with this pump without problem since 3 years. The only bad thing on this pump, have 1/4 port and you can't chage the port. This pump have low current amp draw about 2 amp on cold oil. It's will be less when the oil is hot, but i never tested.
Don't hook the pump directely to the drain. Because when you shut off the motor, you have again oil in the turbo and this oil can't go out the turbo. Because the pump don't run and the oil will pass the oil seal and go out of tubine and compressor housing and your bike will smoke. The best it's make a reservoir and connecting the pump to the reservoir. Don't forget to put a vent on the reservoir. You can connect the pump with hose too. I ran 2 years with tis set up.
For the return oil line, the most popular way is in the clutch cover or connect into the oil fill cap. If you drill and tap in the cover clutch don't forget to put over the oil level.

i have the same pump, what did you do for a vent on your reservoir? i was going to put a nipple with a small filter on it to keep dirt oit of my oil. i will be returning it into the cap, i like your setup better but i'm not going to take the cluttch cover off to tap until its time for another clutch

The vent in the reservoir is for don't create suction in the turbo with the scavenge oil pump and suck the oil in the turbo. Like i told you, i already ran with only hose to the scavenge oil pump for 2 years without problem. But, i prefer to run with reservoir and a vent.
