jetting for turbo zx9?
anybody have a base main jet for a turbo 9, its a 14b from a mitsu, 15lbs of boost probably, i have a factory pro race jet kit, was gonna use the pilot jets needles and emulsion tubes from that but i think i remember seeing that a drastic drop in jet sizes will be needed if i cross a tube into the inlet plenum so that it pressurizes the bowls, also where should i put the clips on those needles to start

I'd suggest giving Factory Pro a call and find out what they would suggest from their technical department. IMO

i would think you'd need twice the fuel at 15psi than you would at ambient.. but, by that standard, you might as well just take the jets out and leave an empty hole!! lmao.
uh,... Hmm.. i think i'd start at 220 and try the middle clip. i'm in the same boat, but just haven't crossed that bridge yet. you at least have another member hear with a turbo 9 to ask.. no one here has a turbo 7. lol
you just tuning by smell and the butt-dyno? (and not the smell of your butt-dyno)
not sure you'll get uber accurate results that way.. haha

The Mitsu 14b from a Talon or Eclipse is going to be wastegated at 10lbs from the factory. (Plenty of boost for a stock engine)
You are going to have to drop quite a few sizes as the float bowl pressure is is going to be increased 10 lbs above absolute, but the vacuum from the engine will remain the same creating a much larger pressure differential. I would drop the main jet needle one (move the clip up 1) and run 145's for mains to start.
I ran DJ144's in mine and it would foul plugs after about 2 hard boost runs. With such a high pressure difference between the pull of the engine and the push of the fuel/float pressure, I could only imagine the fuel must be flying out of the main jet like an injector stuck in the open position, instead of a nice soft plume of atomized fuel being drawn into the intake by the venturi effect.

i just chose 14 as an arbitrary number, i'll probably run around on the stock level most times i imagine, but i am going to hook up a switch for hi-boost using a boost controller, will set it from 14-18 pounds or so
i have water injection which will come on at 7psi and will be tuning with a wideband, i seem to remember hearing about that jet sizing at one time in the past, i'm wondering if i should run them all the way across or do the 5 jet size difference in the center cylinders like the factory
these should help, they better for how much I paid for them, they are 10:1 maybe a tad higher because the cometic head gasket is a little thinner than what i spec'd when i called JE
coating was extra of couse and the stronger wristpins added a bit, came out to 840 I think
And i thought i'd pull a turbo off for around 2 grand, haha yeah right, one person said douuble what you plan on spending, they were probably closer to correct

and does a 6 have more room in the front of the motor or is a 14b much larger than that turbo you have, i'm almost against the block, and have just enough room for the tire out front, i'll have more pictures soon, i lost my camera charger in the move but i'll borrow my girlfriends

oh and tough-guy, did you pull your oil off the pressure sender location? looks like it in your build tread, what did you do with your sending unit? because i dont see it anymore, this is assuming your sending unit is in the same place as mine from the factory

Yeah, I drilled and tapped the oil pressure test plug and moved it there. Now it sits between the pick-up cover and the clutch cover.

Hi Maliboost,
I already help you on another forum when you sarted your turbo project. I see you have do many progress. Nice. I think i can help you. I tuned alone my Turbo 9 and i have Factory pro race kit too. Don't wait the help from Factory. I already wrote to Factory for some support and they never wite me back .
First, I recommand you to start with less boost you can. If you can go with 6 psi. Because, turbo bike is very easy to blown the motor, if you have bad jetting and you are lean (+12:1 A/F).....you will blow the motor.
What is your motor setup exactely ? I remember you bought J.E. forged turbo piston. But what is the compression ratio now ?
What is your cam degree ?
Have you Wideband gauge ? EGT gauge ?
have you pressurized your carbs with pitot tube ?
Do you tune with fuel pump ?
I waiting your answers.
