Did you ever get the ballast for the headlights? If so, how'd it turn out? Light output good?

You might be able to trick the lights into coming on without starting the bike. Try hitting the starter with the kill switch on or in gear without the clutch in, or other combinations where something will not allow the starter to crank with the key on. My headlight will sometimes come on without the bike running in these circumstances.

the HIDs require a lot more power and time than the normal bulbs to start up. so with out a stator and a running bike. i dont think they will have the time and power to boot up fully.

Just use jumpers and hook them to the battery. I did this before installing mine to get the "effect". Worked like a charm.

just read through the thread, great job man! I re did my 9 after I bought it crashed. It was finished for 2 weeks before I got T-boned at 45 MPH. I woke up in a corn field.
Bike is fucked and since there was a crash in its history already the insurance did not give me shit for it, and I was not hurt enough to warrant anything more than lost wages. Mother fuckers.
Any way, since they did not issue a salvage title, I have it on the road, mad max style. I am going for the street fighter look and I plan on taking the winter to build a new sub frame. I bought a 12R and took that on my summer trip (key west from NJ) but my 9 is my favorite bike to ride!! It was loud anyway with a D+D can (I hated it) but with the look it has now, I went fullbore, cut down the D+D to about 8 inches. Psycho. I will update you with some pics if you want.
Good luck man! Don't quit!
