Default My ZX9R Project (will need some help)

Hey all,

So gotta say this will be my first kawasaki ever. Always road yamaha/suzuki all my life. So looking forward to trying something new. This is basically my first Street bike. I had a gizzer 750 for a week, had to lay it down to stop from launching my self over a car that pulled out in front of me. So for the last 2 years ive stayed away. But i came across this awesome deal when i was trying to sell my quad to buy a better one, so im going to head this way instead. So heres some details, and pictures, and my first question i need help with!! Thanks.

2002 Ninja ZX9R - Clean Title - 2000 Original Miles.

obvious problems are cosmetic issues. Everything else is solid except its having a starting issue. This is where i need help!

Guy said at first the bike would run, and then die, wouldnt idle. Now he cant even get it to start except with starting fluid, then of course it only runs as long as the fluid last... not long.

My first guess would be the jetting. But to be honest, i know jack shit about bikes. Im very mechanically inclined, but not in bikes.. So can someone point me in some right directions of what to start checking when i take delivery here in the next few hours? Thanks all.

Look forward to some progress!

If you have any parts you can see i obviously need for a good price, let me know! Im not color picky, ill be painting the bike anyways.

Good luck with the project. That tale section is the wrong year & won't fit. '02 has no handles. I imagine the seats are probably wrong as well. Check on here, there was a guy some time back with a boatload of tail sections. '02 & '03 will work.

Check the position of your fuel petcock. It is located inbetween the subframe mounts on the left side next to the tank. if it is in the "ON" position, try rotating it to the "RES" position.

BTW, I love the candy spark gold scheme. That's what my bike started out as until....well let's just say I married her so all's good now.

so i got a couple hours this morning to do a little bit of work. so i spent the time trying to figure out the wiring. it was all tangled up and stuffed down in the center of the bike... obviously like it wasnt suppose too since the tail lights were stuffed in there too lol.
so i spent the time figuring out these wires. took a bit, but i think i got it all where it goes...

and then this little guy. its the only broken wire ive found. but i cant figure out if it goes to the upper right prong, or the lower left prong....
I need a freaking manual!

Couple photos from today.

annd... a video
This is when the fuel is turned OFF. Runs perfect. Soon as i turn it on, bogs out and dies. heats up to quick and smells like its burning, all signs of being flooded out and way to much fuel. So pretty sure i have the problem nailed down. Should be fixed by friday i hope! hits the shop tomorrow night for tear down.
