Did you get started on that yet? do you still need that axle size? I've got a spare front wheel outside, I can measure the inside of the bearings and give you that number if it's any use? - I'd love to see some pics of the fork swapping process

Hopefully i will just found some forks on ebay for $80 (damaged but good for me) both axle diameters are the same from the 04-05 zx10r and the 95-97 zx6r (front and rear axles) so this swap is good to go. not sure about the triple tree though i guess i could just use the zx10r stem and make a huge washer if it has extra length to it. mostly a visual upgrade but what the hell the forks are cheap so why not?

Got some 2007 zx10r forks for $90, only has rash on the preload adjuster/cap, sort of cheap to replace. So im going to have to swap the wheel bearings to 25mm instead of getting the 04-05 forks with the 20mm. I am planning on getting a 03-08 zx6r triple and bore out the bottom 2mm to 54mm. I have measured the F series triple width which was about 8inches center to center. I then measured a J series triple which was 1/8th of an inch wider from center to center. Looking at the sticky for the 98+ swappable list it seems that the J series triple has the same width as the 03-08 zx6r since it says to use the same front wheel bearings. I assume i am going to space my rotors out a 1/16th of an inch to accommodate the calipers. I know im getting ahead of myself but i will see once i get my forks and a triple tree.

another update, some guy on the zxforums screwed me over. had the the triple tree listed for $75 as the set. told me $100 shipped claiming it was going to cost $25. later it came and it was only the upper and a shipping price of $12. kinda pissed but i found a 08 triple for $80 on ebay. snagged that up and hopefully selling the upper triple for $80. got my wheel bearings in just need to get an axle and im good to go

Alright the frontend swap is almost there. i have the major components minus an axle. One big problem is the steering stem. zx10r has a 35mm diameter lowe and upper bearing and ours has a 30mm. Luckily i have a J stem which is a 25 upper and 35 lower, pretty much perfect except for the zx10r upper triple has a larger hole. I roughly measured the F stem and it came out to be 10.125-10.25 inches and the J stem was about 10.5 inches. I really hope that isnt a problem.

im being a real post whore but whatever i hope people use this info:
so got the forks mocked up, problem is steering stem wont fit as stated above, but the J stem is an inch off so look like im going to thread it down in order for it to fit in the frame.

i took some measurements of the J stem and realized that the stem is almost like an hour glass. 25mm up top then tapers to a smaller radius then it goes to a 35mm. i dont think it would work out cutting the J stem. so thank god i have like 4 triple trees available to take all these measurements, luckily i had a 1993-95 zx7 triple. stem is 10 1/16th in length. top diameter equal to the zx10r stem, but this makes it a good candidate since i only need to mill down a little over a half inch and reduce the radius of the top to 25mm. i could do use the 10r but its threaded inside the stem so if i were to reduce the radius of the 10r stem i could ruin it and waste money.

well im truly an idiot. i bought 2 sets of 25mm bearings and an axle and i dont even need them. our axle bolts right up to the 06-07 zx10r forks or i guess any set of forks that have a straight 25mm axle (see second pic below), as for distance, rake, and trail im not sure. but they bolt up to my forks with no new bearings needed. need to backspace the rotors and maybe larger wheel spacers but thats it, also the J stem could work with a 1" spacer under the lock nut.

as far as spacers go believe it or not our spacers (right side and speedo side) wont fit, they are too big for the forks which is easier than making them, might have to grind down right side one. im hopefully going to a electronic speedo so i might eliminate the speedo drive and get a spacer.

although these are the swinger and pivot axle the 06-07 zx10r uses the same straight axle up front making the fork hole truly 25mm.

finally got around to the stem swap and im quite pleased with it. j stem fits really well, ill have to grind down the bottom of the top triple tree because im going to have some clearance issues with the oil cooler and tire. getting new stem bearings, need rotor spacers and one wheel spacer and i should be done with the front end.

no go on using the J stem, race is too big for the frame plus it makes the forks even shorter making the rake even less. instead im taking my stock stem getting a 2.5mm bushing and pressing that on the stem to make the bottom of the stem 35mm so it can press into the 10r triple. seems like a pain but for $80 better than spending $150+ on a custom stem. had a wheel spacer made up since the speedo drive was slightly too big for it here are the dimensions (in mm)

i wish i would have seen all this back when you first posted. i could have saved you a lot of grief over the trial and error. i did the same forks and wheel setup and found out the same way you did that getting a bushing pressed onto the F model stem was that only way to go. just make sure to account for the thickness difference between the two lower triple clamps. youll need the f stem pushed into the zx10 triple about 1/4"+ to get the clearance needed to get both lock nuts on the top of the stem.

My first project "95 zx6r"

95-97 Body parts (Fairings)

Would anyone know where i can get good quality fairings in the USA, or what other years would fit inplace of the stock current?
I do need the passenger seat though.
Thanks in advance to all.

Sorry I posted elsewhere then found this thread.

Does anyone know if a 97 ZX6R F1 top yoke (triple clamp) will fit on to 98 ZX6R G1 forks?

Thanks if you know.
