Default Master 95-97 ZX6R Swappable Parts List

98-02 ZX-6R / ZZR-600 Parts

Rotors - Front rotors bolt right up the wheel and are slightly thicker (min thickness of 4.5mm compared to stock 4mm). Rear bolts up with a slight mismatch.

Mirrors - Bolt right up, give a better view IMO, improved looks are debatable.

Rear Shock - Requires trimming a bit off of the tab near the top shock mount in order to slide the rear shock in due to the tightly enclosed swingarm design of the F-series. Also requires trimming of the battery box and raising the mounting of the battery to clear the external resevoir of the shock. Rear tank/seat/battery mount will also need to be modified. Bottom shock mount has slightly smaller holes. G-series (98-99) have slightly softer spring rates than the J-series (00-02).

Tire Hugger/Chain Guards - Identical to the F-series, bolts holes all match up. So theoretically this should mean tire huggers made for the G/J-series should also work.

Front Brake Calipers - Completely different bolt pattern, won't fit with stock forks.

Engine Swap - Engine mounts perfectly as long as you use the 95-97 mounting brackets and bolts. -- Thanks purevol --

95 frame - 98-99 motor and various parts

Swingarm - Will not work there is about a half inch gap between the frame and swingarm. -- Thanks purevol --

95 frame - 98-99 motor and various parts

Front End (Steering Stem/Triple Tree/Forks) - Front steering stem is too long, but it seems like it would bolt up ---needs more info---

95 frame - 98-99 motor and various parts

Starter - Possibly a boltup replacement, needs to be confirmed.

Help! zx6r starters interchangeable?....

Rear Passenger Pegs - I just checked and they bolt up perfectly to the subframe. However, they move the pegs ~1.5-2" back and about 1/4" lower than stock. Therefore on the exhaust side you would either need a shorty that doesn't bolt up by the peg or make a bracket to bolt up your F-series pipe.

Front/Rear Wheels - Nope, not going to fit. Completely different axle diameters used. F-series is much thinner than the thicker axles used in the G/J-series.

1994-1997 ZX-9R

Rear Taillight - Direct bolt-on, same fitment.

2002-2003 ZX-9R

Front Brake Calipers - 4-pot gold Nissin models. Mounting bolt holes line up with stock forks, the thread on the 2002 calipers is only 8mm, not 10mm like on the '96 calipers. Need to re-tap and enlarge the '02-'03 caliper bolt holes to 10mm. The different shape of the '02 caliper compared with '96 caliper also requires grinding a little bit of alloy off both the '02 caliper and the '96 front fork mount in order to get the top bolt-holes to line up. -- Thanks 14two10 --

2000 ZX9R Nissin front brake calipers on 1996 ZX6R

2001-2003 GSXR-600

Tail Swap - Tail fairing only, no subframe (ours is welded on stock). It slid right on, didn't have to move anything. Requires a hole drilled on each side of the subframe to hold the front part of the tail on, those bolts also hold the seat on too. Some zig zag type of brackets to mount the rear of the tail to the subframe are also needed. -- Thanks 300zxtt -- (I posted some pics below)

Master 95-97 ZX6R Swappable Parts List

2001-2002 GSXR-1000

Calipers - Upgraded 6-piston units that will bolt-on but require some modification/spacing to fit to stock forks.

surprisingly the chassis from both look very similar, I'll measure the engine mount distances to get an idea if the G/J-series engines will fit.

What happened to your engine, did you blow it?

BTW, it'd help more if other F-series owners or just anyone that spots a useful thread made in the past or current and posts up a link here. It takes forever to sort through all the threads. It would help everyone!!

My freind has a 1997 f model and ive got 2 j's and a ton of parts, were going to see whats swappable over time and i guess id add anything useful here....just a question that i hope anyone out there might be able to tell me, 2000 and 1997 front rotors are the same diameter(s) have the same bolt pattern and seem the same, but will my j brake discs fit his model F front wheel and calipers? I dont know if they will line up right cuz i know he has 8 pot calipers and a cable-speedometer. If anyone has any clues tell me! Otherwise i'll update you in a week or so when we are gonna have to change his one way or another!

rotors from 2000-2002 zx-6r bolt right up and are identical, rear disc bolts on but is a slight mismatch.

I checked the fronts myself too since I also both years, I just added also that the thickness of the later year rotors are slightly thicker.
