Yeah you use one cylinder as a reference point so you know all four tubes read the same. There are adjusters to allow you to adjust fluid height, so you hook up all four tubes to one vacuum port then adjust each screw on the tool to get the same reading across the board. Now that you've done that, when you hook the tool up one tube to each cylinder and adjust the butterfly valves you know they're all drawing the same vacuum.
