i'm new to the forum, and i'm up for any suggestions, comment, and constructive criticism on my 99 zx6r. i'm not really a sportbike guy, i'm more into bobbers, but i came across this bike for cheap and thought it would be cool and different to mix some old school bobber style stuff with a newer sport bike. not everyone's cup of tea, but i'm likin it so far! i have done a ton to it since buying it in may, but just joined the forum, so i'll post updates for whatever i do from here on out. i've pretty much reached the extent of my skills because i don't own or know how to use a welder, but a buddy of mine that DOES will be helping me out with the subframe and exhaust when he's in town over the next few months, so i'll post more as i work with him! i attached a few pics from different stages along the way up to this point. the one w/ me sitting on the bike is most recent, just taken yesterday when i shortened the tail even more, made a front fender, and threw on some fork gaiters. enjoy, scallywags!
why ruin a bike that handles great. but whateva makes you happy. i hope your build goes great , and you dont go too crazy with bobber ideas
How did he ruin the handling of the bike? if anything he is helping by reducing weight and even more he is reducing weight from the top of the bike, keeping the center of gravity low.
good job so far, would like to see more of the headlight bracket.
also i painted my engine cases black to, instead of the gold color maybe look into it.

I think Dubcity is confusing what you guys are calling a "bobber" with a traditional "chopper" like the OP was going to put a springer front end on it or something. I was a little confused when I read the title as well. I would label that a straight up streetfighter. Looks pretty gangster so far.

basically, i call it a bobber because i cut off, or "bobbed," the tail section. i was saying i was working on a streetfighter, but people were getting the idea that i had a naked bike with an ugly acerbis headlight, and that is NOT the idea i want people getting of my bike, haha. as for the handling, i didn't ruin it in the least by loppin of the tail, takin off plastics and the big, fat exhaust can. it actually handles like a champ, especially with the swingarm swap. the guy i bought from did it. i like the look better, and it extends the wheelbase by 3", so it's less of a fight to keep the front end down. and for those asking, no, i do not have the hugger. thanks for all the positive encouragement, dudes! and jcarm359, if you're thinking of doin this to your bike, my best advice is to just go for it! it's a learning experience. just pay attention to how stuff comes off so you know how to fix it, cuz you'll screw up at least 5 times if you're anything like me
