Ok, new day, new roadblock on my project bike. I have an 06 zzr 600 engine and wire harness in my 02 zx6. The previous owner may have installed a start/kill switch control box from a different model bike as the wires look to be different colors in the wiring diagrams i have seen. I am having a hard time tracing the wires that would fire up the bike so i can figure out how to connect the control box i have. From what i can tell its 6 wires in a connector, 2 activate the brake light, 2 currently activate the fuel pump if jumped and the other 2 that are solid red don't seem to be doing anything, am i missing something to get the starter to crank over?

The ignition/key turn power on, i moved all the pins on the gauge connector and all are working (bike is in neutral) and i have the kickstand switch jumped.

It looks like i should be able to connect the brown and red wire together to eliminate the "stop switch" and then if i touch the 2nd red and black/red wire together it should activate the starter yes no? Also when i do this, the fuel pump activates but not the starter. I have tried 2 starter solenoids, one which worked fine yesterday, the other was on the newer harness i just installed.

first off thats a diagram for an 98-99 zx6R........you can tell cause it has coils....00-02 and 06ZZ+ have stick coils....and they revised some of the wiring too.

Sorry i had several diagrams up for the 98-99, 00-02 and 06 zx6r but as far as i can tell from them all, the wires to the starter box are the same colors from left to right.... red/white(or
blue)...blue/red....brown....red...red....black/red unless i'm missing something?

Either way i have an 06 zzr600 engine and wiring harness now and am hoping someone has some tips as to how i can get it fired up without the use of the control box to match up the wires to the oddball control box i have.

Well it ended up being a 2 pin connector to the ignition that when plugged in, pushed one of the pins back and nearly out so it wasn't making contact. Now my start button, brake and kill switch work! Bike turns over like a champ but I am not getting spark to any of the 4 stick coils. Almost there....
