I just recently purchase a complete 91 ZX600 ninja. I don't know the exact model yet, but it is complete and not running with no title. Has new tires on it. $100 couldn't pass it up.

I am thinking of trying to fix the bike as I was told it was running, but only on three cylinders. The bike was stolen at one time and recovered, but the owner never got the title again for it.

I am wondering about swapping the frame with another so that I can register it. Can someone help me with what years and models use the same frame?

Getting a title in GA is no big deal.

If you can get the owner to request a new title, that would be easiest. Cost about $40 IIRC. Maybe you can pay that for the the old owner.

I bought an '86 and had no title. Note: 85 and earlier need no title to register in GA. Just a bill of sale.

To get a title and register it, you will need three things:

1. Have a cop fill out a VIN verification form T22B. Available on the DMV site.

2. Get a Title Bond from an insurance broker. This bond is for the value of the bike. If the original owner shows up with a title, this bond will pay them the value of the bike (and you will then have to pay the bond co.) Cost me $150 for the '86. Call your insurance agent, they may do title bonds or know one who does.

3. Bill of sale. You will need some paperwork. Type up a form stating the sale, the condition of the bike and the amount. It probably would be good to mention the stolen, recovery and loss of title on the bike on the bill of sale. Have both parties sign it. Having it notarized is not necessary, but good to do.

Take all 3 to the DMV with your proof of insurance and you can register it and apply for a title.

$100 is great deal. Even if the engine is trashed, you can sell the parts on ebay and make $$$.

I was going to part it if the engine is bad. It has 18K on it. The owner din't want to mess with the title issue. I may try anyway. I did get a bill of sale from him. I know the old stuff in GA is easy to register. I have a 77 KZ650 frame that I thought about trying to build some sort of custom with the ninja drivetrain and suspension.

There is a deal in GA with salvage titles that it has to be repaired, by a certified rebuilder to be reissued a title. I think this is where the title is hung up. It has little damage on the plastic.

Yes, GA has implemented a "Good ol boy" network for salvage titles. Makes it near impossible to re-title a bike for an individual. Check the title with CarFax, there are different classes of Salvage titles. There is a "2 major components" issue that then requires a certified repair shop. But the criteria does not apply to bikes, so I don't know how anal they are about salvage titles on bikes.

There is a chance you may just have to have the DMV inspect the bike. Check with them.

My '86 was declared salvage/non repairable in '91. The shop that had it replaced the entire front end and swapped plastic. Still needed some plastic welding and bodywork. Frame is straight.

I registered it with no problem. Seems GA could not see that the bike was previously a salvage title as it was last titled in Arizona.

If you sell it, I might be interested. Could use a dedicated track bike

I emailed the guy I got it from to get some more info. It didn't have major damage from being stolen so it might be able to get by.

If don't do anything with it I will put it up for sale at a track/stunt bike maybe.

I bought it to make money on so I am trying to maximize my profits. Bad motor will equal being parted. If I can get it running on four cylinders than I will be sold complete. If I can get a title I already have a buyer.

If it's a ZX600C, then any ZX600C frame from 1988-1997 will fit. Do NOT confuse this with a ZX-6, ZX-6R, or a ZX-6RR. They are DIFFERENT bikes from the ZX600C!

I looked last night. It is a ZX600D according to the vin plate. It looks like one cylinder has no compression so I will be parting the bike out.
