81' KZ440 Comfort/Style Mod Questions

Hey Gang,

Couple quick questions here regarding comfort and modification on a few things. I have the Model A 81' KZ440 LTD with the mini buckhorn handlebars and what I refer to as the "mini king and queen" seat on it. Honestly the handlebar configuration, grips and seat are not all that comfortable for me and I am looking to change them I am thinking.

So my question is this, what size diameter are the stock handlebars, what would be a good source for aftermarket replacement, and how would I properly figure out what type of grips will work with them?

I am sure these are extremely basic questions, I am not new to fabrication, modification and wrenching as I have been building and racing cars for nearly 15 years here, but I AM new to doing it on bikes.

Lastly, anyone know of aftermarket seats that are a different configuration or shape since I am not a fan of the LTD seat that is on it. Pic below of the bike....

Thank you in advance,

This site linked below has some aftermarket seats for the 1981 KZ440:

Most handle bars are 7/8 of an inch in outer diameter.

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
