Kx250 Cases

needing to split cases to clean out a piston skirt that broke and chunks went into bottom end. i got motor out, flywheel, stator, shifter off and the bolts off that side. i want to just pull this side off without taking other side(clutch,etc.). i cant seem to get it to split, is it possible to do it like this cuz it isnt working for me.

I never heard of anyone doing it that way. I guess if you have a case splitter you can just pull the one side. if you are splitting the case, I would replace both the main bearings and seals. This will mean both side will have to be dis-assembled. Little pieces of the skirt/piston are most likely in the bearings.
