cylinde head question.

Does anyone know what the small hole under the plug is? Its located on the left side of the cylinder head, under the plug. This is on a 98 zx6r g1. Thanks in advance.

Likely a drain hole in case water gets in around the sparkplug. Also serves to let the air escape as it heats.

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Might be that the cylinder head gasket is starting to fail then.

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I'd go through and re-torque all the cylinder-head bolts/nuts before I committed to a full tear down.

I had this happen, and it turned out that i screwed up the o rings that go on the valve cover letting oil leak into the spark plugs and leaking through a little hole that looked pretty much dedicated to that.

Thanks for the help guys. It dawned on me today. I dont think its the head gasket. The oil and coolant look good. I believe alex is on the right track. I just did the valve cover gasket, however i didnt do the little orings under the valve cover that seal the plug holes. I thought they looked good, however i was probably wrong and they are seeping a little. In which that hole is venting the oil. Back in i go lol
