Question riding your bike for a living

Hi all, how many of you ride your bike as part of your job? Just wondering as I'm racking up the k's on my zx-9 and see a hell of a lot of time in the seat. Things are wearing out bit by bit and sooner or later I'm going to have to face up and buy another one

I would think only cops and stunt man would ride for a living.

or professional race bikers lol

He may mean that he uses it as transport for work? not sure. Maybe he is on the road all the time and uses it very often. Like a sales rep for example.

I commute to work, but do sales calls in various states. If they know me, I use the bike for a visit. Makes good conversation. With company compensation of a personal vehicle rather than the company car choice, it works out. At first, some were skeptical due to the forbidden having fun at work, but sales results work out, so what can they say?

I'm pretty sure he does mean that I commute to work and then use it travelling to clients' homes. Also couriers fall under this category, but I'm a site surveyor, and the clients are aaaalll over the place. Most I've done in a day was 1200km. I make sure I service her professionally every few months, but the last service (where I told the guy to find anything borderline and replace/fix/renew it) he tells me she's getting plain worn out. 120,000 km will wear certain bits and pieces that just can't be replaced. On the other hand he also told me the zx-9s are built like tanks and go forever, but I don't want to ride her into the ground until she stops. I'm on my second coolant reservoir from sun/heat damage (they get brittle over time) and probably do a chain and sprocket every 8 months. When I get her back from the tune and pat on the bum she always feels happy- but like I said, she's got a few more rattles and squeaks than she used to.

If that is the case I put in 30000 miles a year on my poor ZX6r, next bike is going to be a Honda 650F which is designed more for commuting due to the position and fuel milage and even price.
