hmmm i kinda like the flat black look on the pre-08 250's
if i ever repaint i may go that route.

somebody probably used the wrong screw, too long. could happen to the first gen zx10's also, if you mixed up the fairing screws you ended up with a hole in the tank.

Knox,

I have the exact same problem with my '05 Ninja 250. It had been "worked on" by the previous owner, and apparently they'd punctured the gas tank. The bolt had copious amounts of silicone sealant on it, and now that I've loosened it, fuel oozes out. I haven't had time to drain the fuel yet though -- plan on doing it soon. Need to pick up a gas can and a vacuum pump (or a brake kit, like they mentioned in the Ninja250 FAQ article) first. I might just use JBWeld like someone mentioned, because I'd rather not replace the tank. My tank also has a couple of dents in it. If you're looking for a replacement tank, let me know how your search goes, how much they run etc. I might do the same.

Any other sealants that would work against gasoline?

Uncle Kawasaki really screwed up the engineering design of this fairing to tank hardware configuration.
