Question Electrical problems, turn signals, instrument light

Hi guys, I'm having some issues with my 09 Ninja 250r. My turn signals sporadically stop working for a bit, the wiring to them seems to be fine and usually after letting the engine run for a bit the signals start working without my having to touch anything.

Today, it was a lot worse and I noticed that the console backlight wasn't working either. The other lights, neutral and the oil lights don't seem to be having any issues, nor do the brake lights or head light. The only thing that seemed to get them working again was turning the ignition off and then turning it back on, which got the lights working again.

Am I right in suspecting that there's something going on with my ignition here? As far as I can tell the console lighting is on a different circuit from the turn signals and turning the ignition off and on without doing anything else shouldn't have any impact on whether the lights come on or off.

I see I can get a replacement ignition and locks for about $40 off ebay, should I just do that or is there something else I should be checking? My key is somewhat worn out and the previous owner didn't provide me with the code to get a less worn out key.

It appears to have been the wiring going to the ignition key cylinder. I haven't done any work on it after the last time, but just shuffling the wires a bit seems to have made it stop.

When I get a chance, I should probably look into replacing those wires going into the key cylinder, but I haven't been having any issues so I'm hesitant to anger the gremlins in the bike.

In case anybody was wondering.
