Oil leak

I recently got a 2009 ninja 500R from my cousin and it has an oil leak somewhere. When I ride my left boot gets covered in oil, so it's coming out somewhere by the shifter. However, the whole left side of the bike is covered in oil/fuel and I'm not sure where it's coming from. The right side looks totally normal, it's only on the left side. When I let the bike warm up it will sometimes start smoking from oil/fuel dripping on the exhaust pipes. And I have to add oil about every 200 miles. I can post some pictures if anyone wants. Thanks for helping out a new rider.

great opportunity to work on my post count

likely the LH crankcase (aka stator) cover. A gasket resides there...some use sealant, your call.

Or it could be a loose banjo bolt

located at the end of this oil pipe, behind the starter.
