power commander 5 problem ER6N

Hello all.
I decided to treat myself and got a second hand PC5 to try out on my 2015 ER6N but I am having major problems with It, loss of power, surging even on zero map. It wasn't a plug n play install I was hoping as I had to change the polarity of the injectors. Maybe my first fault was that I get PC for an older ER6 or doesn't it really matter?. The other problem is that I keep getting the red warning light show on the dash and battery sign. My bike was running fine before the power commander insulation.
Also I've taken the PAIR VALVE out as I have an after market exhaust.

PC5 units are year/model specific. I would recommend uninstalling the unit and purchasing the correct one for your bike model/year.

I was thinking that myself but I think I've sorted the problem out, It was due to a faulty 02 lambda sensor connector and a rubbish earth connection. I have tried it again with zero map and it runs like it did before just fine.
So whats change in later PCV models? may I ask other than ignition and a pre loaded map which I assume could be downloaded anyway.

I believe sensor count and input resistance ranges, but I'm not 100%.
