  1. A shout out from the gsxr crew

    Off-Topic Discussion
It's been a couple years at least since we've been trading threads at gsxr.com. Anyway, the Tee wants to give a shout out to you guys.
  2. Spark Plugs

    Concours
I think 7,500 miles is ridiculous, especially for OEM Iridiums. I've got 25K on my original plugs and maybe I'll worry about them at 50K.
  3. I've gotten to the point I'm tired folks..need suggestions

    Two Wheeled Discussion
Or you can do like I did and move on to a Concours C14. Pretty close to being a sportbike but comfortable.
  4. I need help or advice

    Concours
I've ridden both, and own a C14. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the FZ1, it's a fine bike, but it does have a more upright seating position than a C14. I think the FZ1 has superior slow speed handling simply because it's lighter (no other reason) but the weight of the C14 disappears once...
  5. I need help or advice

    Concours
Life? These things routinely go over 100,000 miles (C14's haven't been out long enough to be logging in over 200K but they are capable of it I'm sure.) As far as whether or not to do it, it just depends on your mission. The Concours will handle twisties at least as well as your FZ1. It is...
  6. Looking at a 2008

    Concours
It's normal. Probably attributable to the "neutral finder" which puts it in neutral at a stop even if you try to put it in second. Sometimes I get missed shifts from first to second if I don't positively shift the whole way.
  7. Tire Pressure Monitoring for our Bikes

    Two Wheeled Discussion
My Concours has TPMS in it. Does it work? Yes. Is it accurate? Yes, to within a couple psi. Would I have paid extra for it if it were an option? Maybe, if it were real cheap. It's a convenient way of checking your tires without getting your hands dirty. Now, if I had to trade features...
  8. Got into a crash on the freeway while lane splitting when there was traffic

    Two Wheeled Discussion
Even jogging between the lanes while splitting isn't inconsistent with CVC 21568 - there is case law precident for this. There are too many former LEO motor cops that would testify it's common practice.
  9. Got into a crash on the freeway while lane splitting when there was traffic

    Two Wheeled Discussion
Here's the legality of lane sharing: 1. Every State in the U.S. except for California has a specific vehicle code, ordinance or law that defines how many vehicles can occupy the same lane space, abreast of each other. California's vehicle code is absent of any such definition. By...
  10. what happens if you run out of fuel on FI bike?

    Two Wheeled Discussion
    My bad.
  11. Pilot Road 2's get 20,000 miles+

    Two Wheeled Discussion
It doesn't actually have a higher weight rating, but it is intended to be used for heavier loadings and two-up riding (within the weight limit of course.) My understanding is the compound is different and slightly harder.
  12. what happens if you run out of fuel on FI bike?

    Two Wheeled Discussion
Probalby depends on the bike you have. A friend of mine with an older ZX 7 ran his bike out of gas, and it took 20 minutes of cranking to get it to run again after he filled it up. I ran my Beemer 1200RT out of gas once on the freeway and it was a complete non event - fired right up after...
  13. connie for the big rider

    Concours
I wouldn't personally but people do install highway pegs on full crash bars. You might check out the Concours forum The Kawasaki Concours Forum - Index for some ideas.
  14. Pilot Road 2's get 20,000 miles+

    Two Wheeled Discussion
I ran Pilot Road 2's on my BMW 1200RT and I just put a set on my Concours. The best life I've gotten out of a rear was 25,000 miles (no that's not a misprint.) I ran 38F 42R in the Beemer. They feel about as sticky as the standard Pilot Powers I run on my track bike, except they last a whole...
  15. connie for the big rider

    Concours
I'm right at 6'. Peg ergos are slightly less bent than a sportbike, and the seating position is bolt upright. I have no issues with the pegs. I wouldn't even think of lowering them.
  16. 2009+ Concours 14

    Concours
I have a 2010 Concours, and I chose it over an ST 1300, FJR and BMW GT 1300. The GT is really the only comparable bike, and I might have gone that route except the 1300's have known life limiting engine problems. It's definately more sport than touring. All I can say is, when I used to ride...
  17. Types of Crashes

    Two Wheeled Discussion
What happens is that one side of the tire grabs traction up on the high side of the tread, and turns the wheel in that direction. The wheel snaps back when it loses traction, and the process repeats itself on the other side. For this to happen you have to simultaneously contact the front of...
  18. Pilot Road 2's get 20,000 miles+

    Two Wheeled Discussion
My last rear tire (on the RT) lasted almost 30K. But to put things in to perspective, I was also getting about 15K a set out of standard PP's on my gsxr 750, on the street. Track mileage is a lot less of course. Part of that is I think we have good roads here compared to other places, and I...
  19. Pilot Road 2's get 20,000 miles+

    Two Wheeled Discussion
I run standard Pilot Powers on my track GSXR, but I ran PR2's on my 1200RT and I will run them on my C14 once the OEM Bridgestones are shot. On the RT, which is a fairly heavy bike, I averaged about 25,000 miles a set. I actually know people that do run PR2's on their track bikes with some...
  20. foothill hooligans

    Two Wheeled Discussion
I know those roads like I know the palm side of my dick! The Tee usually does a Salmon Falls Road run on the weekends as well.
