Hi guys sorry iff this has been mentioned before, ive checked the parts swap list and it says the zx6r 07/08/09 rear shock will fit my o6, is this a good swap is it worth doing, and is it easy to do as it says you have to grind a bit off the bottom to get it to fit... any help would be great..thanx guys.

It bolts right up and is an excellent upgrade from the 05/06 shock. You can find them quite cheap if you shop around, I picked one up for $60 shipped with less than 1,000 miles on it and used it for a while before I upgraded to an Ohlins unit.

It's a few mm longer than the 05/06 shock, and you'll want to flush up the outer fork tubes with the upper triple if you haven't already for track duty.

In addition to having high/low speed compression adjustment and being sprung much lighter (a big plus unless you're 220 lbs), the fact that the 09+ will presumably be much newer and have less miles on it will mean that it should perform much better than the tired old 05/06 shock that is probably on your bike.

And finally, the valving is much improved over the 05/06 shock.

I stand corrected...didn't realize that it was that big of an improvement over the 05/06. I have one for sale if you want it haha..

I got an 09 shock off of ebay for $55 shipped with very low miles. Even without adjusting it I could feel the difference between it and the 05/06 shock I had adjusted. It is a little longer than the 05/06, but if anything it'll help a little with turn-in. It's a direct swap also, no modification required. It has a stiffer spring which works great for me at 215 lbs butt nekked.

Yeah my bad, I didn't look up the specs, I just went by how they felt. Either way, the 09 was well worth the $55. I've even heard people say they like the 07/08 shocks better than the 09. The biggest thing is that you get a shock that's not worn out.

nice one guys thanx for the replies, i got a 08 rear shock, heard the 07/08/09 are exactly the same... went straight on no hassle, bike felt harder to tip into corners, but i did have everything set on fairly hard and i removed the 6mm spacer that kawi put on top of the shock so's to get my feet down a bit better as im a short arse.. so ive put the 6mm spacer back on and softened the shock a little, waiting to find out how she feels now just waiting on my new hotbodies tinted screen coming...
