The first bike I ever owned was a ninja and I've stayed loyal to Kawasaki. Back in April 2002, I bought a left over 2001 ZX6R with zero miles on the clock. Since then, I've put 1200 miles on the engine and the fucking thing is slow as hell. I've added a slip-on, a jet kit, a K&N Filter, and an adjustable ignition advancer. This bike is extremely disappointing. I think a minivan could probably keep up with it. At first I thought it was my imagination, so I took it to my local bike shop and had the mechanic ride it around. He confirmed my suspicions and told me that I had the slowest ZX6R he has ever ridden. I broke in the engine according to Kawasaki's recommendations, but my mechanic told me that I babied it too much and that my bike will never be fast. When I thought about it, I remembered that I exceeded Kawasaki's rpm limits on a few occasions. How could this be babying it? I am super disappointed with it and I'm thinking about trading it in for a '03 ZX6RR. It's too bad that I've already spent a couple grand in go fast goodies and carbon fiber parts that are all gonna go with the bike. My mechanic told me to ride the bike really hard and eventually it will loosen up. Do you guys have any advice for me before I get rid of this slow ass POS?
Thanks,
David C.
