Yes, it DOES use a 12volt battery. And you can hook up a bunch of neons with no problem. You could also go LEDs. I did it on my old bike and noticed that the 6" and 8" neon bulbs were the brightest. 6" the brightest one though. The 12" 14" and 16" were not as bright.

I didn't bother to find a wire that stays on after ignition so I just wired the + up to the battery and the - on each of the lights up to the frame of the bike. Yes, I also put in a small switch up by the inside fairing. I had 8 neon lights on my bike. With 8 I could leave them on and the bike off for about 5 hours without a problem. Anything more than that My battery would be dead. When you set them up make sure you CAN'T see the bulbs. You wanna see just the light hitting something. Also that way it is not illegal.

Thanks for the reply, So u'r saying u'r neons run straight from the battery and not through the ignition system. Meaning u could have u'r neons on but with no power to the bike how did u mount the neons to the fairing? i wanted to avoid drilling if poss
Cheers heaps

Neon's are legal here in Ontario if they're not red (cop color) and if you don't see the actual tubing, if you see the light it's OK but if you see the actual tube then it's illegal because it's a "distraction"

Used my purple neons for the first time last night and got pulled over.:( Cop said the Minnesota statute doesn't allow the lights at all, whether they're off or on. Can't even use them for competition.

He was cool though. No ticket. Also said he had me at 40 in a 30 and let that slide too.

BTW, i used a size 20 fuse.
