03 Gauge Adjustment??

648 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  TheManZX6R
I haven't really had many problems reading the speedo or digital rpms, but i'm kinda tall and have noticed that i tend to be looking down on the gauge at too high an angle to clearly see, say, the fuel light. I generally see it when it comes on, but it's kinda from the reflection rather than the actual light, if you know what i mean. i can't see the actual light unless i tuck my head down a bit.

What i'd like to do is just tilt the gauge up a little bit so that when i'm in my normal riding position the gauge & lights are facing me straight on so I can see everything more clearly. Does anyone know if this is possible??? At first it looked like the gauge cluster was held by just a horizontal bolt that i could maybe loosen to tilt the gauge, but after looking a little closer it appeard to be bolted down a little tighter than that. Have any of you tried this, or know if it can be done?

I have removed my gauge (wrecked the bike, had to repair the brack) and noticed that it is held on with three screws from behind. The horizontal bolts that you see (4) hold the bracket to the ram air intake. You can probably just add some washers and longer screws, behind the gauges, to tilt it in the direction that you want. You will have to remove your upper, windscreen, mirrors, bracket/ dash, and inner covers to access it. Actually not too hard when you see how everything goes together. You could also change the colors if you want. One of the guys on the forum sent his off to http://www.bluegauges.com/ , and that is his right there on the front page. He has a blue bike also. I have no prob seeing the speedo, but the tach is impossable. I actually want to switch mine out with the Z1000, because it has the red background and will look better on mine than the white. Still won't be able to see the background any better, heh heh, but it will look cool.
Anyhow, hope that it works for you.

I actually adjusted it today. All I did was add a few washers to the bottom screw, and it's alot better. I hated the fact that during the day I have several times not noticed the gas light. I normally fill up at 130 miles, but yesteryday I went playing and filled up at 130 and it took 4.5 gallons. That's alot closer then I really like to get to empty. Hopefully now it won't be such a problem.

You don't have to be faster then the bear, just faster then your friend.
Hey Liambane I was just wondering how those whashers worked out. If they helped let me know cause it sounds like a good idea.
