I broke a chain on my bike recently so went to the manual to find out what length chain to buy. The Owner's Manual and Service Manual I had listed 108 links so that's what I ordered. Once on the bike, it seemed awfully long. So I decided to ask my go-to supplier what his source said for chain length for my bike. "106 links"......hmmmm.

Evidently, the manual I have is for an older model. It doesn't list which years it covers but the pic on the cover is for an earlier bike. So I wanted to share with others and spare unnecessary headaches. Officianados will know about this and what year the change occurred but when I ordered the manual (it didn't come with the bike) it didn't say which years it covered and some literature out there states that the KLX has been "essentially" unchanged since it was introduced. Not so!

Well better to get one too long, than one too short. You can just remove 2 links.
