I have got a 1996 ZX9R. It has 45,000 miles on it. It runs great with plenty of power. However, lately I have heard a little ticking now and then under my tank. It almost sounds like somethign bouncing around from time to time. It runs perfect and has no issues. Any thoughts on what that might be or a sign of something to come. Your thoughts are appreciated.

cam chain, cam chain tensioner perhaps? or maybe a dodgy KLEEN valve... best yank it out to be sure

I didn't think they had KLEEN in 1996. I thought that started in '02...which was part of the reason the '02 lost some performance over the '00/'01 9R.[:M74]

my 98 has KLEEN, all ZX7R's have it and some kawa's had it back in the late 80's.

i doubt the 02 lost any real performance in reality, maybe one of the bikes the magazines tested wasnt quite as strong as the year before but a ponie or two measured on a different day isnt real definitive
