The service manual says 1st oil & filter change @ 600 miles (on 2001 model). If you don't want to wait that long, I'd say 300 miles at the soonest.

THE MANUAL SAYS 500 TO 600 FOR THE FIRST OIL CHANGE ON THE 03-ZX.
THE DEALER RECOMMENDED NOT TO USE ALL SYNTHETIC OIL CAUSE OF POSSIBLE CLUTCH SLIPPING. BUT ITS ONE PERSONS OPINION.

My first oil change was at 25 miles this is because with a new engine there is bits of metal from gears and other engine components that get grinded off with the initial start/ride. Just to see how much metal was in the oil I filtered the oil in the catch pan through a paper towel and I was amazed by the amount of metal, I should have taken a picture of it. Then at 600 miles I changed the oil & filter again. Then at 1300 miles I changed to synthetic oil Mobil1 15w50.

200 miles and 600 miles. At 1000, I go to Mobil One 15-50.

If you ride the bike, you cannot change the oil too early or too often.

I changed the oil at 24 miles, and it was quite a sight.

At what interval did everyone do their first oil change? I know it probably be @ 100 miles, but do you think that's to soon?
