I have a 2001 zx6r with a bolt on hawk gp muffler, fuel mix screws 3 turns out, stock carbs cleaned and synced, stock air filter. Runs great but in first gear at high rpm around 9 or 10k it seems to hesitate a bit and then pulls through. also smells like its running rich and pops alot on decel. rpms dont hang or drop but the issue in first gear at high rpm. Wondering if theres a fix for the popping and what anyone else has their screws set at as well as any carb mods? thanks.

popping is either exhaust leaks or KLEEN system has not been plugged off.
the stock jets are rich.....replace the filter with a UNI or K&N to increase air flow and drop vacuum with the better free flow of the air. That might cure if the carbs are truely clean as you say.
