For an oil change, the 2001 bike takes about 456 mL and the 1997 bike takes about 325 mL.
But you should not use volume to measure the level, because you cannot tell just how much oil is in the fork after you drain it. Instead, use a level gauge to measure the level from the top of the inner tube, fully compressed and without the spring. You want 116 ± 2 mm on your bike.
