Hi

I've bought a set of rims for my 2003 ZX6RR. They are stamped as follows:

Front
J17M/CXMT3.50 DOT with tyre 120/60 ZR17

Rear
J17M/CXMT4.50 DOT with tyre 160/60 ZR17

I presume the 3.50 & 4.50 is the rim width.

I think they're too small for my bike. The work shop manual for my bike says the wheels specs are:
Front - 120/65 ZR17
Rear - 180/55 ZR17

It doesn't tell me the rim width though.

Can anyone confirm whether the ones I've bought are too small for my bike or not?

Based on the info you provided; the front wheel is fine as 120/70/17 fits on 3.5 wide rims but 180 rear tires require a 5.5 wide rim so you'll need to source another rear. The chassis is designed around wheel/tire sizes so anything drastic (going to a 160 rear) may make the bike unpredictable.

Based on the info you provided; the front wheel is fine as 120/70/17 fits on 3.5 wide rims but 180 rear tires require a 5.5 wide rim so you'll need to source another rear. The chassis is designed around wheel/tire sizes so anything drastic (going to a 160 rear) may make the bike unpredictable.
Thanks. I've contacted the seller and he has agreed to accept my return of the rims. My bike is a Track Bike only, so I don't want anything but stability and confidence

Good call; if you're not too obsessed with the 3 spoke design, the later zx6 wheels (07-12?) are much lighter and I'm guessing can be swapped over pretty easily. The rotor bolt patterns are the same (rear rotor is identical for all zx6). Worst case you have to swap wheel bearings to accommodate differing axle sizes, which is about $40 worth of parts and 20 minutes time.

Cheers. Not obsessed at all, it's a track bike. However, I want the 2nd rims to run wets so I don't have to miss a session due to a rain shower. What I want is to be able to take the rims with slicks off, and pop the wets straight on with a minimum of mucking around. I'll see if I can find out rim compatibility with bearings etc. It's heaps easier to find later model rims than it is 03/04, especially here in Australia

You run captive spacers I assume?
Could luck out if axle sizes are the same between models
Any photos of the bike?
