Kawasaki ZX-6R
The 2009 ZX-6R is the most powerful standard 600 MCN has ever tested with a beasty 115bhp at the back wheel.

Engine Size: 599cc Power: 115bhp
Top Speed: 161.62mph Torque: 46.67ftlb
1/4 mile time: 10.97sec

Triumph Daytona 675
The new Daytona 675 has revised suspension but torque and midrange power are where the Triumph has the edge.

Engine Size: 675cc Power: 112.8bhp
Top Speed: 156mph Torque: 50.7ftlb
1/4 mile time: 11.38secs

Yamaha R6
Focused and built for the track, the R6 was last year's winner... but has the competition closed the gap?

Engine Size: 599cc Power: 108bhp (claimed)
Top Speed: 165mph Torque: 46ftlb
1/4 mile time: 11.35secs

Honda CBR600RR ABS
ABS could give the Honda the edge in terms of rider confidence and encourage demonic late-braking antics.

Engine Size: 599cc Power: 107bhp
Top Speed: 165mph Torque: 44.6ftlb
1/4 mile time: 10.92secs

Suzuki GSX-R600
The latest GSXR600 has better midrange performance to make it more user-friendly, but will this help on track?

Engine Size: 599cc Power: 108bhp
Top Speed: 164.97mph Torque: 46ftlb
1/4 mile time: 10.95secs

so far on paper the 6r & the zuk look like the front runners, i guess the abs on the RR doesn't permit endo's

I like the kawi and the gixxer.

The honda isn't bad but I would never get abs.I don't see the point of spending all that extra money. Not to insult you if thats what you have with yours. Not a huge fan of the looks ethir.

Looks like the new ninja is just lighter and more agile, with a tad more hp due to no more "jumper mod" and slight engine alterations.. lol

The ZX10 won SportRider's BOTY shootout, would be cool if the 6 gets some recognition too. That is if you put any stock in mag shootouts in the first place.

As we all know I'm a kawi fan for sure just tried out the rr this time around.. I'd be happy to see them win but not in a magazine (wss works) and I have an 08 and wouldn't buy abs crap ;)

That would make sense... when i just picked up my new zx6 i asked the salesman how many more gixxers they sell then the other big 3 (because they are everywhere) he said they sell over 2 to 1 to the next best selling 600... and they sell all the four major brands.... hmmm

I think the prevalance of the GSXR is due to styling...and the word of mouth of the bike. How many people know what a "Gixxer" is but have no idea what a "ZX-6R" is? For people who don't know shit, the GSXR is the bike they lust for.

That's not to say it's not capable or a good performer, because it is. I know plenty of people who know their shit and choose to ride one.

Yea altec no doubt the are badass machines if I had a dealer closer I'd likely have one in my garage in place of the RR, not to mention I've always heard you can't go wrong w/ a honda (well the 07+ anyhow)
