2023 Ninja 650 first oil change

I was wondering what a good oil to use for the Ninja 650 would be? I've never owned a sport bike before. My first bike was a 1984 Honda Sabre VF700S, and that took diesel oil that had to have the JASO-MA label on it. So I always went with Rotella T6 5w-40. But since I bought this Ninja brand new I want to make sure I use a good oil with it to make the bike last me a long time.

I just hit 900 miles on the bike and I bought a K&N 303 (KN-303) oil filter for it. Just need oil now.

Welcome!

I definitely recommend Amsoil Metric 10w-40 fully synthetic or BelRay Synthetic Ester Blend 10w-40 (semi synthetic).

Both are thoroughly tested and good but the Amsoil is nearly perfect and I don't use anything else :)

The Valvoline 10-40 will work fine. When you ask any oil suggestion on line you're going to get thousands of answers. Your user manual is the best place to start. I personally use Mobil 1 full synthetic motorcycle oil. It's not that complicated. And, change according to the manual's suggested frequency.

I still use Rotella T6 in my bikes. It's definitely good stuff.
