I was just wondering if any of you are able to do 2nd gear wheelie....WITHOUT clutching it up? If so, how are you doing them....is it possible to bounce the pegs and hit the gas on the rebound and bring it up that way, or are our bike just to heavy for that? My sprockets are still stock, but i do have a jet kit installed.

Thanks

I did one this morning, not really on purpose though. I was coming out of my housing area onto the street that takes me up to the main raod. I entered and from around the corner came a big arse chevy truck doing about 60 in a 30. I was already committed so I nailed it. Ran it up to the red line in 1st, hit second, rolled the throtle, dumped the clutch and the front came up about 3 or 4 inches as I was rounding a sweeping right hander. Caught me off guard but the bike did nothing un-usual and it was very smooth.

Like I said, it wasn't on purpose it just happened. I don't wheelie much but when I do, I do them in 1st. Run it up to about 5, grab the clutch, take it to about 8 and them dump the clutch. I don't like to do that to my bike, but it's the only way I know how to wheelie, so I don't wheelie very often.

WOW I'm winded, sorry for the long post.

SPROCKETS, SPROCKETS, SPROCKETS, if you get a 14/42 combo, wheelies are a lot easier to do.... I get my bike in 1st gear up to 5k rpm then hit the gas(no clutch)hard and it goes staight up.... the sprockets i have are renthol 14 front(one tooth down) and in the back 42 (2 teeth up) added a lot of torque off the start and wheelies are a lot easier to do.... this winter i am adding a stage 3 dynojet kit, ignition advancer and platnium spark plugs to see how much the bike well move.

oh and i completely forgot to say that in 2nd the bike well pull up a little bit, about 5 to 6 inches if you have it up high enough in the rpms to not have to use the clutch, i am not that good at wheelies yet but i can tell the bike wants to do them.... i just have to get the balls

"Ran it up to the red line in 1st, hit second, rolled the throtle, dumped the clutch and the front came up about 3 or 4 inches".... i think he meant he gave it gas with the clutch in then let out the clutch and with all the rpms it had it came up..... maybe not but either way sprockets will help you out 100%.

Just relaying a story - nothing more. I have NO skills when it comes to wheelies on the street only in the dirt, I think I clearly pionted that out.

With my bike, two teeth up in the rear, jetted and tuned(CA model) 96 horse at the rear wheel I can power up second gear standups no prob and with some work I can get up second gear sitdowns. It's all about timing. With stock sprockets it would be really hard to power up a sitdown, but a standup on an all stock 6R is no prob. Standup on the rear pegs, take it up to about 7grand, let off the throttle, as your letting of the throttle bounce the front suspension with your arms, as the the suspension is coming back up nail the throttle and give it a little tug. It take practice, the first couple of times you probably won't get it off the ground but eventually it'll come up no prob!

BTB,
you ARE good!!! Just out of curiosity, have you destroyed bikes/yourself learning that shit?? I can wheelstand my mountain bike for miles, but I just don't have the commitment to practice on the "real bike".

When you say to stand on the "rear" pegs, do you mean the passenger pegs, cause thats just CRAZIE if you ask me. My only question is this....I have STOCK sprockets...all i want to do is standup wheelies in 2nd gear by bouncing on the pegs, and giving it gas...NO CLUTCH...is this possible to do?

mikey71497: I don't think this is possible. I have been tryin quite hard to do it and have had no luck, YET! I have a full muzzy system and a K&N on my bike, it's gonna get jett'd this weekend, so i'll re-post and see if the extra power helped me power it up in 2nd, if not i am gonna have to put my feet on the rear pegs! Either that or do a sprocket change, which sounds much safer! :-D
