50cc's and Talkin Smack!!!!!!

A guy shows up at Hooters last night for a bike night on a new 50cc scooter. Sure the harley guys don't like us but what do you think they think of the scooter guy? It was even a two stroke. Upon leaving (our bikes parked next to him) my buddy and the guy start talking. He tells us that he just picked it up, its from Italy and will do about 50 mph stock as is. He then proceeds to tell us that he's ordered the big bore carb and head kit!!! Sad thing is, he isn't laughing, but we are on the inside. As we get ready to leave, guy tells us that his bike "won't keep up with you guys yet." I'm thinking...."YET?!?" Holy shit! That thing couldn't begin to keep up even if we stole Shane's nitrous kit and rigged it to his little scooter. Ahhh, the joke of my life.

Ha! That's funny. Scooter guys are serious dudes. Just wave at them like every other rider, I often see them in harsh weather with the rest of us.

I wouldn't laugh too much. I sell scooters that could probably put a beat down on if they were tuned properly. Aprilia makes a couple that could probably hang if done up properly. Don't forget the Super scooters that all the companies seem to be going crazy for like the silver wing (which is a 650cc) and the Bergman (500cc). Don't completely count out or discredit someone because you don't know what it is. I beleive people fear that which they don't understand. I know it could be done. It just needs to be left to tuning and rider ability.
there's a Burgman 650 now, in the Sept issue of Cycle World there's an article, the bike can do burnouts when you switch the tranny to manual, and can do over 100mph
Yes I read that article. 0 to 60 was respectable.
I can out-stoppie most of you on my 50cc (soon to be 70cc) wheels of speed!

Scooters are hella fun and good for getting around town. You can wring its neck, throw it down the road, wheelie everywhere, stoppie everywhere and basically be a shit yet remain unstopable!

I like Derbi's the best, they took their 50cc engine from their scooters, and made this..

top speed of just over 60mph in its 50cc form, and you can do a 70cc mod to it too :)

I've seen that little Derbi 50cc bike first hand. It's a cool looking little bike. The gas tank is actually under the rear cowl and seat. The tank that you see there is actually a flip up lid which houses a small stoarge area and other components.

A 50cc scooter (some not all) propery aspirated can do 50 MPH, but not much more. There are kits to bump them up a bit.

One problem is you can't do much for torque. Maybe it can do 50 but it'll take a week to get there.

The dealer I bought my 636 from has a sweet Derbi 50cc in the showroom.
Aprilia builds the RS-50 along with Cagiva and their Mito 50. There are some others. the Derbi has a seven speed gear box.

That SR-50 in the pic is our shop bike and I've been working on getting that thing on it's front wheel. I love the thing. It's the Haga Replica as well so it's got all kinds of racing logos on it. The thing Freakin ROCKS!!

AWESOME!!!!!

my friend's wife just got an aprilia rs50. talk about a cool bike to learn on. there was a 'bike night' here in town last night and her bike got more looks than anything else....but the poor little motor can't even keep the headlight bright unless you're revving it. i rode it a while back....handles like a demon, just ring the piss out of it and forget about the brakes. i suspect it goes a little faster with her on it (she's tiny, i'm not). after riding it, i'd really like to try an rs250. nice pic strong bad!

Jeans maybe yes, but check out the boots!

I'll get a feet-over-the-bars shot for you crazy sods later on today.

I don't do that crap on my bike, that's what scooters were made for!
makes me want a scooter...

its funny in the small town that i live in all the drunks that lost their lisence for DUI/DWI are migrating to scooters for travel...i guess they got tired of pedaling...
For a while i was looking to get a 125 or 250cc race bike. Hard to get them here in the states. A few Aprilia bikes i found sold for what it would cost me to get a very nice 600.
