Why is it everyone thinks that 600s are slow?!

we hit 0 to 60 in 3 seconds... and i get kids comin up to me sayin they can take me in their camaro LS1... hmmm.... lemme think.

also, i really wanna race this turbo supra. My friend's friend, he says he can take any 600. Im thinkin... top end? slight chance, anywhere between 0 to 140mph... i got him, unless we're dealing with a 700hp monster. I just wanna show these ppl who think 600s are slow...

dont ppl look at specs anymore?

I have a Camaro, and I'll tell you, it's fast. But you just don't realize how fast a 600 is until you've opened one up. Most people have never even seen one run flat out, and even then it doesn't seem like much.

They're also used to Harleys and whatnot. 1600 cc and 60 HP putting around at 5,000 RPM. Then they see a "little" 600 and think 30 HP, not 100 hp screaming at 14,000 RPM.

Vehicles smoked

Mitsubishi Eclipse Turbo-----Idiot thought his super hoped up Turbo was fast
Celica Turbo--------------------He might have had something for a Toyota ECHO
Honda civic Si------------------I don’t know what this guy was thinking
Acura Integra-------------------He thought his car with an exhaust and an intake and some really lame graphics that he could beat a bike.

I have no idea why anyone would try and race a bike in a car. Even if I owned a Lingenfelter Corvette 650 Twin-Turbo with a 0-60 time of 3.3sec I still wouldn’t race a bike.

I also smoked a Yamaha road star nooooooooo problem.

yah freal... much respect to nice fast cars. But know you're limitations... ha.

yah gary, people never really see it. And when people think 600... they think starter bike just because they dont know. well when they experience a 600, they'll see it. Even tho i've been riding for almost 3 years, i cant picture myself on anything bigger yet because i havent hit any limitation that my bike has.... (well maybe topspeed...)

i hear u ZX6... i raced the cruiser my friend has. He's talkin about how he cantake any 600 too! i was like... calmly, 'i dont think you can take all of them.' he said, 'well i've taken you everytime!'
I couldnt belive this, I never raced this dood, im usually chillin while he leads or we're jus BSin around the roads... 'we take a stoplight confrontation,' he's far in my mirrors when i hit 2nd gear... and i wheelied! ha...

Aside from the $200,000 + cars there is really nothing on the street that can take a 600 off the line, hell most Ninja 250's can burn just about any car off the line.

No motorcycle is slow... The ZX6R is not as fast as and R1 or Busa but it doesn't cost over 10K either =)

I smoked my Dad last weekend in his 25th anniversary Vette. He said he hadn't been beat'n THAT bad, I has by 30 yards before I hit second, since back in '84 when he was in Arizona in an Austin Healy and took on a 67 Camaro SS with a blower stick'n out the hood. he didn't have chance in either race.

It's days like this I wish I still did drugs!

One time I've beated a guy in a Citroen Saxo (that's a small, 1100 cc, 60 hp French car). I never understood why did he revved up in the red light... until he stopped right next to me, in my College. It was a friend of mine with his new car!! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

He recognised me, so he wanted to see me pulling off - he always knew the difference between cars and bikes.

I've also smoked lot's of cars, but I've got smoked sometimes by bigger bikes (VTRs, GSX-R 1000...).

By the way, I _still_ ride a Yam' Fazer 600.

I raced a 390 H.P. Supra TT that did the 1/4 in the low 13's w/ shitty tires and whooped him pretty nice, that was from a 40 mph roll. All of the top end cars go from rolls because they dont have enough traction off the line and even at a 20 roll the rear ends on them do a nice little waving action. He was running 19.8 lbs. of boost when I raced him that night he raced a turbo porshe and kept up with him pretty nice until his intercooler hose popped off, pretty scary thing to hear a boom coming out from your engine. I only have a pipe on my bike and its not even jetted yet, I'm sure that after I jet my carbs and smack a K&N on I'll be able to beat him even worse. The thing that you cant foreget is that its a bike and its all mainly hp to weight ratio.

Girls get no respect...Dude was at the light, I'm just chillin'. Yeh his car was breathing, but it didn't mean anything. He had a GT. Back in the day, they were hot with a 5.0 and a little juice (NO2), but I knew he had nothing for me. I didn't think he would try to get me but he tried and I just took him in 2nd gear....sucka!
If you ever see a blonde dude with a GT on Long Island (like a bronze color), he got no ballz.

Bring it!

Boy, y'all got my blood all boilin and feelin da need for a high speed sprint around da neighborhood with a high speed pass down the freeway.
Let me share.....okay first time I had a fella try some BS when I was on my green 2000, he revved as I revved at a light. I was inviting a race, but I felt the adrenaline rush. Needless to say, in first I left him STANDING at the light as I was, no BS, about 100 yards because he gave up after I shot out of da hole.
One more, real recent. I was kindly signaling to get on the merge lane to jump on to the loop ramp to the interstate, when this black LT1 Trans Am closes my space and make me jump behind him. So I shrug it off, until he starts switching lanes as I change lanes. Then here is the final straw... he guns it and send smoke my way. I HAD IT. I kept in third, rolled up behind him at 70 with about 8 grand or so, and shot by him like he was standing still on my way to 110. Boy, these folks just dont know. They forget that we ride race replicas minus full race exhausts. How are these dream machines legal, NE ways, ride safe. -Ninja 6R

Somebody said the 6R isn't as fast as a Busa ???

I beg to differ... here's my thinking... get that guy on his Bus (left off the "a" on purpose) and hit some REAL motorcycle roads. As I've said before I'll say it again... ANY monkey can go fast in a straight line.

Where motorcycle riding becomes FUN is when you take that straight line and put a WHOLE BUNCH of twists and turns in it. If you can't smoke that bus on REAL motorcycle roads, you're doing something wrong.

The Hayabusa is a supercharged Goldwing in my books. It's a lightning fast sofa that isn't meant to turn.

I get the impression that most ppl here only care about who's fastest down a freeway... I like to think that I can make my Ninja run with anybody on the roads we ride, and I do... and I have SEVERAL regular riding buddies on the big bore beasts (Gix 1000, 954 Blade, TL1000R, Gix 750, etc). Bring 'em on... they're lunch meat in twisties I say. And the painful truth is, they aren't all THAT far gone when the road straightens out... because I'm coming out of corners harder (gettin the jump) and braking later... 600's rule.

Roll-ons at 5,000 rpm ? Bah, no chance. But when I ride hard I'm never rolling on at 5,000... scream it and smoke 'em...

So true DJ Dunzie.

You don't buy a sportbike for the straight aways. You might as well have bought a dragsters or stuck with a cage. $ for $ sportbikes are the most accessible high performance ride on the market. Get on the twisties and leave the skirt at home. If your legs aren't sore from riding you aren't riding. Bottomline, it is ALL about turn speed. Hayabusa weigh about 100 lbs, more than the standard 380 lbs for ZX6r. Try and do track days with that added weight. It ain't worth it, especially when you get tired of reading my license plate.

Peace Out!

the first time i went to a club race there were these bikes just screaming around at speeds i could barely comprehend. at the end of a short-to-medium length they were hitting 155mph. they were braking so hard you see the rear tires lift from time to time...and the corning speeds were absolutely amazing!!! just a bunch of guys on race prepped, stock 600's. the potential of a bone stock 600 is way out of reach of most of us. the next time your buddy says he/she wants/needs a R-1, gixxer grand, ect.. look at him like he's a friggin' idiot and walk away.
