636 needs warranty work?

87 octane? No, No, No.
Don't put anything less than the best, and try to go with either 93 or 94. Did you switch brands of gas? Some companies put different additives and detergents in than the rest.
If that was the closest dealer, I'd look somewhere else, cause it sounds like they want you to f*ck it up so they can get some $$$. Right on the tank has the minimum octane rating for the bike.

Well, I might be taking the 636 back to the dealer for work. recently I noticed that up to 6000 rpm the bike doesn't have good power. I thought it might be the clutch slipping but the rpms don't rev high and the bike goes nowhere. But, I changed the oil because it was at 700 miles. I've also adjusted the clutch. I've even tried different fuel. If I pull the clutch in and crack the throttle it revs great, so I don't think it's fuel related. Also, I noticed the the throttle roll on is terrible now as well. Same thing, just no power and the revs come up very slowly. So, my guess would be dealer time! Let me know if anyone has any other suggestions. Because the closest dealer's mechanics tell me to burn 87 octane gas and the wanted to adjust the valves on the first service!
I believe it says to not to anything lower than 91 octane in it. Just for your future refrence any high power or high reving auto or motorcycle requires higher grade gas. I would never use anything below 89 in my old car and that thing was a piece. But yeah I would take it back and don't say anything about using 87 octane.

I haven't put anything below 92 in it. The dealer is the one telling me that I should only use 87. Hell, there's even a sticker on the tank that says use a minumum of 90. I've got it at the shop now, hopfully they can find something wrong because it's a night and day difference from what it was a few weeks ago.
87 octane???? Valve check on first service??? Get the hell away from that dealership and don't let those mechanics touch your bike. They are trying to rape your wallet, and don't deserve your business.
I disagree about the valve check, it might not be a bad idea. Not every bike coming off the line is going to be mechanically perfect. If there was a flaw or abnormality it would probably show up early. 16 valves, springs, guides, shims, seats plus 2 camshafts with all the associated attachments spinning at 1000's of rpms, sounds like a good idea to me.

It wouldn't suprise me if they checked the valves. Like I said the clutch seems ok. It'll probably be at least a week before I get my bike back. they probably had 15 bikes they were working on! The thing that ticks me off is that from what I'm finding out is that motorcycle dealers ream you worse than car dealers! I just paid 8 grand for a motorcycle and then they want to charge you anywhere from 150 - 180 for the first service...and that's just the labor!
Well, the shop called today and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. All of their mechanics rode it and said it was fine. So, I'm going to pick it up...well as soon as it stops raining here! Hopefully I just got some strange gas.
