Can I upgrade the guage cluster from other bikes? I was wondering how the sensors for the tach, speed and other stuff work on these?

Maybe from a newer 6R. There are also aftermarket systems but they can get expensive. I don't know if there's anything like a real ECU in these. I don't think so. In which case, if you want to go through the trouble of sorting out the wiring harness to retrofit a (for instance) GSXR guage cluster, it would probable work, providing the doner vehicle is also lacking an ECU.
