Yep, they make specific pin spanners to fit. The tool kit used to come with one. You can also get adjustable ones. I use a hammer and a big screw driver.
i guess I need the hook wrench for this task; I tried using one of those from my car's coilovers, but they don't seem to fit. Do bikes need a specific set of hook wrench?

SW,if you using a hammer and screwdriver you will end up stripping the shock body.its alumin and after some time it will make the spinner get crucket and mess up the threads,i have done it to one of my stock shocks,just my 2 can't spell cents.
