Adjusting the clutch

837 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Dave Leonard
My clutch is starting to go bad, I think. When I have the lever pulled in all the way to the handlebar it is still not fully disengaged. I am planning on changing out the clutch, but I was thnking of just temporarily sdjusting the clutch line down by the engine case. There are 2 nuts and a spring, anyone know what I do to adjust it?

Step 1-Twist handle
Step 2-Hold on!

With the clutch lever out (engaged) there should be a little movement before there is pressure on the cable. I think the book says about 3mm which is about as thick a a nickel. You can adjust it at the lever or at the clutch end. It is probably better to adjust it at the clutch end so you can adjust it in a hurry from the lever end if you need to while on the road.
