ok so i keep burning up friction plates.. i put a brand new set in about 2 months ago.. now i have been really hard on my clutch from doing first gear clutch ups..

someone told me that if my steels are discolored from heat then wont work anymore.. i used them anyway and my normal riding was fine.. but i had to sorta warm the clutch up do you wheelies.. basicly dump it hard a few times then start.. is this cause of my steels?

I really dont want to spend 23 bucks a steel (X8) & 20 per fiber(X9)
and have it not fix the issue

well i dont want to get away from the topic too much but barnett kits run 150 bux and they include steels, fibers, and springs. if your steels are discolored you can reuse them if you take some scotchbrite and scuff them. the blueing is just from the extra heat and it is similar to brake rotor glazing all that you need is a clean surface to work with. i would suggest a clutch upgrade but most bikes i see will go 20k plus miles on a stock clutch even with abuse from dumping it. anyhow if you wish to reuse the stock steels at least scuff the discoloration off first
