I know it came with a 180 on it.
Just wondering if the 190 would decrease handling as bad as people say it would.
Please only respond if YOU'VE actually done this.
Not looking for hearsay here.
Thanks

well i haven't thrown a 190 on my 636, but i did go from a 190 down to a 180 on another bike....made a huge difference....the 180 turned in much quicker....the 190 made the bike feel heavy and sluggish. its a noticeable difference. stick with the 180...they give you plenty of grip and a big enough contact patch to work with. hope this helps!

There is probably a reason no one has tried it. Quite a few guys riding liter bikes go from a 190 to a 180. If you put a 190 on the rear it will have the effect of raising the rear 15mm. The bike is a little on the squirrelie side already without a steering damper.

Drop us a line and let us know how it turns out. If you are just looking for poser points neon will probably be a lot safer.

Usually you would change to a wider tire for straight line stability, such as drag bikes. A wider tire would make it harder for you to turn if you ride the twisties or track much. If you prefer straight line speed, then go for it. It would probably also be more stable for low speed tricks (12 o'clocks, high chairs) or wheelies. Your choice, but I am sticking with the 180 on mine. I actually went with a 120/60ZR17 on the front instead of the 65 series tire. Mostly because I don't like Battleaxes, prefer Dunlops, and couldn't resist the price. Because it is a lower profile, it is there fore wider, and shouldn't be as twitchy in the turns...no, I don't have a damper, yet.

how is it with the lower profile up front? i was thinking of going with a 120/70 up front when the stock wears out, i have a damper though.

I put a 190 on to try it on my red 03 636. A lot of guys I ride with go up a tire size and yes it does effect handling but I crashed last year after hitting a peg and I like having the most rubber possible on the ground. 190 seems alot nice in the corners, some say you can't manuver it as quickly as a 180 but its only a cm, its not that big a deal.

I have a carbon hugger on my '01 and it would just about rub if I
was to put a 190 on the rear.
Plus different tyre makes have different profiles. I think the
208's are fairly flat in profile to pilots so going from a 180
208 to a 190 pilot might not make much of a change when you tip it in on a corner. Then again I may be talking crap and if so I'll get back
under that rock !!![:M13]

What up kid[B)] Im pissed you could not take the ride with us last Sat, I know you had to get the monster fixed; and stop passing me on the right while I am in the slow lane, it scares me. And stop stopping at the last second that results in a hwy endo. That scares me too. We already had the 600 shoot out and Canyon carver contest.

Yeah, 190 are fine on 1000's but 600 not good. Like Doug said just for possers. Just look at GP bikes they wheelie and corner just fine with those skinny ass tires.

D-Nice your still the man just stop beating on your bike.

Trust me I could tell it was personal the way guys were ripping through traffic. I just sat back and wached. Well, we have a tentative planned ride on Monday to NJ the look out point Englewood cliffs, that's where Mark and I went to last time crazy view of NYC. This time I think we will leave earlier and go further. Perhaps the beach in trumble may be a stop as well. We got to do some exploring.

Take care and I will holla at you later. Charleton will be going too on Monday.
