on average how much usually does our bikes (636) backhalf? from what i have noticed, a 1000 is usually 27-30mph. im seeing about 22mph on my 636. is this normal?turning 105.5 mph in the 1/8, and only 127.5mph in the 1/4. does my 1/4 mph seem a little low to anyone else, or am i hoping for too much. i mean i see 636s on here saying 132mph thru the 1/4. im not that heavy about 165lbs suited. my mph thru the 1/8 seems on par with others i have seen.just wondering if my 1/4 mph looks a little low to anyone else.

Are you running race fuel if not run 87 pump gas do you have your top butterflies out if not take them out do you have the airbox mod are you running 1 down and 5 up in the rear for gearing MAKE SURE YOUR WHEELS SPIN PROPERLY I can spin my rear wheel with the brake spread apart give it a moderate push and it spins 6 full turns Do you have the powercommander on it has it been tuned if not take 10% out at 100% throttle from 10000 up to red line. All those things will make the bike run better I run nitrous on my 04 636 it goes 123 in the eighth when on motor it went 110 111 in the eighth 135 in the quarter with race fuel. Do you have your timing advanced

thanks for the reply steve. here is what i have. 03 with full muzzy, powercommander, bmc, airbox mod, geared -1+3. i run cam2 101 octane. its not oxgenated, would i be better off with87? over the winter i plan on installing the 05 cams(already have them) pc3 timing module and a custom tune. i have been holing off on the tune untill i get the cams in. im using your bike steve as kinda the yard stick to measure by since you have the fastest 636 i have heard of.thanks again for the reply and i appreciate any tips you can throw my way.

I would def get rid of the cam2 if your running on motor, all that octane is going to slow you down, especially on the big end, "back half". Run 87 octane fuel and tune it on that, if your going to get aggressive with the timing, I would step the octane to 91-93 to stay out of detonation.

My 599cc went 105 in the 1/8 and 129 in the 1/4 untuned so you have room for improvement. I was about 10lbs heavier than you last year when I ran those numbers. Thats 24mph untuned with a smaller displacement at about the same weight.

thanks for the tips guys. looks like i will pull the secondary flies, and ditch the cam2. i will get my cams put in and ignition module and a custom tune over the winter.

Also depends on track conditions, elevation, temp...all play a major role in how fast these bikes go. I'm at 104mph 1/8th and 126-127mph with -1 +3 gearing.

thats exactly how i am geared for the track. what year bike do you have? 636 or 600?

03 636, i'm trying to make it back to the track this friday, but i doubt my mph will change...just working on that 60ft

Filter, PC untuned, hindle slip-on , -1 +3 , lowered front and rear, strapped, stock wheelbase it went 10.54 @ 127

6" extended went 1.58 60ft 10.47 @ 126 ....but the rear suspension was rock hard due to faulty install on the 05 shock and swingarm, I now have that figured out and more than likely heading to the track tonight...hopefully it will do better.

went to an 1/8 mile track today. ran my best time so far thru the 1/8. ran a 6.63 at 106mph. strapped, lowered, took the 14 front off and went with 15-43 gearing. 87octane gas,full muzzy exhaust, powercommander. finally getting the hang of leaving with this bike.

87 octane i was told not to run my bike at the strip with it in my bike, what rpm was u launching at, and how do u like the 15-43 gearing any reasons why u took the 14t off the front, nice times tho

87 seemed to run good, didnt hear any detnotation, but im at stock timing. my best run i launched at 12,000 rpm and slipped the clutch pretty hard. as far as switching back to the 15 front sprocket, the 14 is just too much rpm on the road for me. plus it seems easier for me to controll the front end rise with the 15. personally i have run with 14-43 gearing and 15-43 gearing, and my 60 is better with the 15-43. doesnt make sense to me . but i abuse my clutch alot more with the 15 than the14.
