When buying a new battery for your bike and the dealer pours the fluid in the battery and tells you to wait 60 minutes is the battery ready to install in your bike or do you need to put a charge on it first?

With few exceptions, you can use a new battery 20 minutes after it is filled with electrolyte. In that time, the electrolyte permeates the separators and the gas generated by chemical reaction is released.

To be sure, test the battery 10 minutes after it is filled. If it shows a terminal voltage of higher than 12.5 V, no initial charge is necessary.
