Great piece. I've had it for a couple of months. Don't expect much out of those signals though.

I have to agree, it's the best looking one out there. I just can't justify the price. I decided to make my own. I'll be picking up a sheet of ABS this afternoon.

I like Graphic art moto design's, but the price is high. Build quality is excellent on them.

Im gonna go with this one..

I have the undertail from Graphic Art Moto Designs, the cat eye signals are bright if you use the L.E.D. lights which they sell also.

Varoooooom...
Well....I picked up a big ass sheet of ABS stock, .090 thickness, which is about 3/32. First, I'll just try cutting a piece of ABS to fit the area I want covered and see if there are any clearance issues. If I have to worry about the tire, I may try using a heat gun and forming a curve into the ABS. I want to attach it to the rear cowling using and epoxy and Plastifix, essentially making it one peice. I can smooth out the seams and then I'll have the whole thing painted. My issue there is getting the tail section back on the bike with the undertail in place.
Does anyone have any pics of an undertail before it's installed?

Every thing lined up really well. The hardest part was cutting the old fender to fit the undertail. I must admit I didn't do a very good job of it. But the undertail works and it looks great. the instruction, if you can call them that where less than helpful.
you will need a dremal with a cutting bit (looks like a drill bit)and some pinstripe like tape to mark the area you want to cut. All in all it was a little pain in the ass but well worth it I get a lot of complements.
Pics should be up next week

Get the undertail but I highly recommend the led lights from libertek w/integrated turn signal. Mine are black and look really wicked

Here's what I decided to do for my homemade undertail. It turns out, I didn't really want an undertail. I just wanted to clean up the rear end.
What I did was cut out half the trunk with a Dremel, in line with the subframe rails.

The I took a few measurements and cut out a peice of ABS to fit the trunk. The ABS is .090 thick. Smooth on one side, haircell on the other.

I then used epoxy to attach the ABS and some black silicone to weather seal it and make it look better. No pics of the final stage yet.

If anyone is interested, I have a bunch of ABS available for fabrication use. Email me a panel size and I'll make you a deal.

Hey Diirk, that is exactly what I did to my undertail and it will come out good. Check out my bike in the members section. The only difference is I used clear fiberglass.

Vito,
Nice bike...
Do you have any close up pics of your trunk mod? Once you got rid of it, what did you mount your license plate too? Oh yeah, I said it in the other forum too...what did you use for the mirror mounts?

Diirk, I used the back of the battery tray to mount my license plate to. The cops here in Alabama are cool with it in their word " As long as a plate is on the bike I dont care where its at" Sorry I dont have pics yet. The mirrors just have that little plastic plate that is at the bottom of the mirror when you take it off.

Vito:
I had thought about mounting my license plate to the battery tray but was a little worried about the cops around here. Especially since I'm already missing rear turn signals. I'm just going to rig a bracket to mount the plate under the tail light.

I hadn't thought about using the plastic things. Great idea. They have some cool billet ones for Yamaha, so I thought your had something like that for yours.
